Also just because.Just because.
It’s a strong incense scent. If somewhere by you sells incense sticks, look for Champa Flower ... it’s a dead ringer to my nose. I think you might pick up the sandalwood late in the dry down, I’ll have to pay attention today. I can also send you a sample if you like. How is the Nag Champa? I've always thought of it as a more complex sandalwood but haven't actually tried it before!
HA! But I know exactly what you're talking about in terms of scent. Very much appreciate the offer of a sample but I got a full tub of Stirling Frankincense & Myrrh from a very generous Rudolph exchanger this past season so I'm all set in the incense-y department for a while, even if the notes are a little different. It’s a strong incense scent. True story-
When I have used that set and hang out with my brother, he says “I smell incense, what have you been doing?”

It had been a while since I lathered it up, so just did a side lather before my shave this morning of F&M. I'm not sure I can place a hay note since the last time I was around hay bales was quite a while ago, but it smells just like the incense used during Catholic masses to my nose. Not sure if I could even tell you what either frankincense or myrrh smelled like on their own, but evidently it evokes the exact same profile that I smell on every Holy Day. I don't get any cedar. Would think this definitely is a polarizing scent. I'm out of sample containers right now but once I have one I'll package up a sample for you. What do you think of the Frankincense and Myrrh?
I picked it up when I was up there to visit the shop. I only smell hay ... and I hate hay. I have hauled enough of that crap over the years for horses. That or cedar ... not buying soap with cedar either.
Maybe if I use the F&M more, it will open up.
No need for a sample, but thank you. I still have the set put away. I guess I need to break it out and sniff again and/or lather. It had been a while since I lathered it up, so just did a side lather before my shave this morning of F&M. Profile on Stirling's website mentions balsam as a note but I don't get that either. No wood notes to my nose, but I have the Christmas Eve set for that!I was just mentioning cedar as another scent that I do not like. Only good for storage boxes, maybe a closet and fence posts
My father banned incense in our house. My siblings and I burned it regularly, often quite innocently. When I have used that set and hang out with my brother, he says “I smell incense, what have you been doing?”

Nice! Resin?I also scored this Trotter Handcrafts Rainier Ash handle.
Yes, Resin.Nice! Resin?
Thanks Eric! I’ll get the stone down. It’s smaller than my normal, so I need to practice my x strokes.Sorry to hear that the Dovo wasn’t quite where you wanted it, but keep working at it. I’ve heard good things about the ILRs. The new handle looks great!
It took me quite a while to go from my 3” x 8” synthetics to my smaller Jnat, but it was worth the effort. Thanks Eric! I’ll get the stone down. It’s smaller than my normal, so I need to practice my x strokes.
