Pass Around - Timeless Bronze Open Comb - Pass Around

The razor has arrived safe and sound! Thank you Josh, this thing is an absolute beauty, and it could be said at the same time, it is a beast. I had the first shave with it this morning and will be posting more thoughts and pics on the next use. Stay tuned!

Timeless Bronze OC Review

After receiving this razor safe and sound, I used for the first time on Tuesday, Dec.11th, which was my birthday! Well I had been planning for a long time to use my birth year/quarter razor, the '85 Black Beauty adjustable, for the first time since acquiring it back in March of this year. It just so happens that I also have the Timeless in my possession, so I decided to use both razors! On my right side was the Black Beauty and on the left side was the Timeless Bronze OC.

Initial Razor Impressions:
This razor is a beautiful piece! It is also heavier than I imagined it would be. But the machining, the alignment, and the fit and finish, is just perfection. The threads were so smooth it felt like they were lubricated with grease (the Karve also feels like that). My initial impression was "wow this thing just looks and feels incredible"!!

Shave characteristics:
Since I had read how many regarded this as super aggressive and efficient, and the warnings of how it can and will bite, I was super cautious. Loaded a fresh GSB into it and made sure to use a very light touch. My WTG pass went actually rather smooth! I was surprised and guess I was expecting it to bite me. It did not. Let me tell you, this thing is a whisker whacking machine! Took the hair down to skin level no problem. It was not BBS yet, but I would definitely say after one pass it was already at CCS level. I did not notice any rake patterns on my face since I used a more shallow angle. Relathered for pass 2 going XTG. Again, being very careful and using shallow angle, this thing got it almost at BBS and that's without going against the grain. I was in a rush and time was slipping by me so I stopped right there. But what a fine shave it was. I must say it was not as smooth and comfortable as what I prefer, but it definitely was not the monster I was expecting. No nicks, cuts, or weepers, or irritation! Good start so far!

Thanks again Josh for your generosity in doing these passarounds! This one makes me curious about the Bronze SB, one I've been looking at for quite a while now.

I've gotten in a couple more shaves with the Timeless Bronze OC & they were all pretty good shaves. Only once did I draw blood because I went over a skin impurity, but other than that there was no irritation, no nicks or cuts.

As I stated before, this was not a very comfortable or smooth razor, & I don't see it as a daily driver for me, but if there is two or three or more days of growth, this is where that efficiency shines IMO. Happy to have used a Timeless. Thanks Josh, for your generosity. I have cleaned & disinfected it & will be getting it in the mail tomorrow headed to @dkeester.

Shave #1 with the Timeless

I didn't have a good enough angle for the first pass with this one today. It took out my whiskers with great efficiency. However, the weight of the razor combined with the blade exposure made for a shave with tons of blade feel and residual irritation. My Post-2013 Muhle R41 is not as aggressive as this razor is. With the correct angle and a light touch, holding it back against gravity this razor should give really phenomenal results. This is definitely not a newbie friendly razor. I was reminded of my MMOCs while I was using it. This thing requires a deft touch. I am BBS after two passes, but the lasting irritation has yet to completely subside.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the irritation Doug, but sounds like you'lll be baby smooth for a little longer than usual...hopefully the irritation dies down in that time.

Shave #2 with the Timeless.

Today's shave was much better. I got a solid BBS shave with much less irritation than yesterday. The razor will definitely let you know when your angle is slipping. Holding it back against gravity helped improve the shave.

I am at my in-laws for Christmas and I didn't want to travel with the Timelss, so I won't be shaving with it again until the 27th. After that I will be cleaning it up and sending it back to Josh.

Thanks Doug, everyone that participated in the pass around and especially Josh for doing this. Great reviews and thoughts guys.
