Pass Around - Timeless Bronze Open Comb - Pass Around

Yes please remember though, it's Josh's razor not mine.

Yes, thank you for reminding me. Since you organized the pass-around, I gave you credit for donating the razor. Thank you Josh for the razor!!! It would be a bit difficult doing a razor pass around without the razor.

I had shoulder surgery today, so it’s going to be tomorrow before I get the razor mailed out. Sorry for the delay. I’ll send tracking info once I get it.

No worries. I had shoulder surgery last December............not fun rehabbing while cleaning windows in a sling. Heal up ?

TIMELESS BRONZE PASS-AROUND

PJO (Patti) Shave #1

So, that was fun!

Anyone else notice this razor is heavy? ;-)

Preliminaries

A little about me. My collection of 20+ razors consists of modern, vintage, DE, and SE (injector, Gem, AC) razors that I use in a random rotation, seldom using the same razor twice within a week. I shave daily and never chase super-BBS for fear that it will deprive me of a next-day’s shave. Oh, and maybe I should mention that I am shaving my legs, which I gotta think is a whole lot more fun than shaving a face.

Like others, one of the first things that struck me about this razor was its solid heft. Curious exactly how it compared to some of my other “heavy” razors, I got out the electronic scale. See chart below of razors in order (from left to right) by weight (in grams) — and also showing relative lengths. To be honest, this ranking surprised me.

Shave Setup

Neumann Old-Fashioned Soda Shave Cream

Voskhod blade (they never let me down)

Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet AS

Shave

My shave technique generally is to ride the razor cap, take long strokes, and make only two passes (both ATG). I didn’t need to adjust any of this with the Timeless and was rewarded with a smooth, comfortable, easy, close shave. Absolutely no bite from the AS.

The razor’s performance was outstanding. Just a great shave. My only complaint is that the handle’s spiral polished grip does not always feel perfectly secure when shaving with lots of lather. (This shaving cream generated a ton of lather, and I wasn’t about to waste any of it.) The razor never actually slipped in my hand, but I felt constantly aware that the slip potential was there. (I never give a thought to slipping when using the Blackbird, ATT, Karve, or CG Stinger.)

Tomorrow I will try a whole different lineup: Gillette Blue blade and Tabac stick soap. Can the Timeless crank out another flawless shave? Stay tuned.

THANKS, JOSH for the generous loan of your razor — and thanks also to Dave for organizing the pass-around! This is actually my first
time to participate in this forum activity, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Happy shaves to all!

Okay, I will bite. Please sign me up.

The Karve is great (Thanks, Dave!), so the Timeless is definitely worth a try.

Only 20+? Seems like so much more looking at your SOTD.

Would really love love to see you post more aside from just SOTD. I feel you have so much more to offer and contribute than you have so far. Baby steps I guess.

TIMELESS BRONZE PASS-AROUND

PJO (Patti) Shave #2

Setup

Tabac shaving soap stick

Gillette Silver Blue blade

Humphrey’s Citrus Witch Hazel

Rubberset brush

Shave
For the second shave I decided to try and push the razor’s limits a little. So the Tabac lather, while perfectly nice, was intentionally kept to a minimum. (Yesterday’s thick cushion of lather offered great protection but also geneated a long ribbon of lather with every stroke, creating some grip issues that disappeared today.)

One of the things I like about heavy razors is that you can just set your razor head angle and then get out the way: the razor will do all the work. With lightweight razors there is the constant temptation to apply pressure. The noticeable heft of the Timeless is a reminder that no extra pressure is needed.

Two ATG passes again today. A little more blade feel than yesterday. Not sure whether the blade swap or the thinner lather is the cause, but it doesn’t really matter because the shave is still smooth, close, and comfortable. Kneecaps initially felt just a touch tender, but a slather of Humphrey’s witch hazel quickly knocked that out.

Conclusion
The Timeless is indeed a razor for the ages. It is built like a tank, is drop-dead gorgeous, and shaves wonderfully. I am very grateful to Josh for lending it out for such an extended period and to Dave for organizing the pass-around.

That concludes my turn. The razor is sterilized, boxed, and tomorrow will be shipped just up the highway to ShavePastor.

Happy shaves to you all!

Very nicely done Patti. Thanks and looking forward to ShavePastors thoughts and then Doug's who will then send back to Josh unless we have more join the list

Glad you enjoyed your time with the Bronze Timeless OC! From the sounds of it you got along well with it!
