Zoologist Orchid Mantis

Back at work. Good thing I am because we were at minimal staffing and three people called out today. Not like anything happens this week though but it means I can't leave to run errands at lunch time.

Good trip back home. We didn't get any hoped for snow flurries, but it was cold and wet so it felt more like Christmas than here. No travel issues either way other than a slight delay in getting there. Lots of good food and my sister's dog got to visit a lot. If only we could train a dog to go in a litter box, we'd probably have one by now.

Nice to shave in a sink that's bigger than a shoe box again. I used one of the samples that came with one of my gifts today. I guess I should have expected with Orchid in the name, but it's overpoweringly powdery. FYI: Hymenopus coronatus is a mantis from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. It is known by various common names, including walking flower mantis, orchid-blossom mantis and (pink) orchid mantis. It is one of several species known as flower mantis, a reference to their unique physical form and behaviour, which often involves moving with a "swaying" motion, as if being "blown" in the breeze. Several species have evolved to mimic orchid flowers as a hunting and camouflaging strategy, "hiding" themselves in plain view and preying upon pollinating insects that visit the blooms. They are known to grab their prey with blinding speed. As for the scent: Zoologist Orchid Mantis entices you into a fragrant illusion. Juicy pear, exquisite rose and dainty jasmine entwine with basil and ylang to conjure the intense scent of orchids, set against the backdrop of a humid rainforest evoked by patchouli, moss, sandalwood and vetiver. Ultimately, an enduring musk serves as a captivating reminder - that beauty can also be beastly.

Zoologist Elephant

From beneath a canopy of lush, damp foliage, the complex aromas of Zoologist Elephant emerge. Into a mixture of invigorating Darjeeling and incense, swirl hints of coconut and cocoa. With the patience of a foraging herd stripping the bark from a thicket of trees, the fragrance dissipates gradually. What is revealed is the core of the perfume – a beautiful and satisfying blend of woody notes, which dry down to an elegant, natural sandalwood scent.

Well, we made it. Wheeee. Got champagne for tonight, and by tonight I mean until at least 9pm local time to celebrate with the east coasters. Couldn't think of anything special to have with it as I didn't want to spring for caviar this year, so probably just a cheese and meat night. Not sure why, but I got the itch to play a video game again so I did some research on FPS games and ordered Cyberpunk 2077 to be delivered today. I'm charging up the controller and hope to spend several hours playing tomorrow. But the PS5 hasn't been turned on in years, so I expect to spend several hours watching it update. I woke up feeling like someone had cranked the temp to 80 but it was just me. I'm hoping it's just one of those feel something coming on and it goes away the next day. Really would have liked to climb back into bed but I'm the only director here today so I'll just hang in my office with the lights off waiting for Gear to post more memes.

The people that talk about social media being coded to suck you in and get you to spend more time than you intend to hasn't played immersive video games. Like I said, it's been years since I've played a console game, and forgot that feeling. What a fun way to pass a day. I still have a lot more killin' to do, but that might have to wait for tomorrow.

Two things: I’ve been hiking in Muir Woods, and what a gorgeous piece of America it is. It reminds me of the Pacific Northwest. Old growth forests are heaven on earth.

“I still have a lot more killin' to do, but that might have to wait for tomorrow.” Please get back to work ASAP! There are a lot of bad guys out there! 😱

Super rainy weekend which means there was no tree cutting down or yard work. We went to a jazz club in the city with the youngest and her boyfriend who need to be exposed to more of the world. Very bummed that the Broncos game wasn't shown locally and getting annoyed at the expansion of professional sports to streaming services.

Yeah, the NFL built its core fan base with network broadcasts, but now they’re gouging the fans for every nickel they can get. There’s no need, they were already making money hand over fist. 😡
