So before I buy something I shouldn't, I start getting this craving. Then I keep looking at it, maybe watch reviews about it. It gets to the point where I know at some point I'm buying it but I feel like every day I don't is still a small win. I've got that going on with a job right now. The nursing director role here is open. The person I thought they were going to have slide into it wants a different role instead. The person that takes the job will be jumping into somewhat of a dumpster fire so when it was first brought up that I might want it, I actually laughed out loud. But I've started looking down that road even though a loud voice is telling me I shouldn't be. Same pay or maybe negotiate a bit of a bump. More hours, more stress, a team that needs training, discipline, and coaching, and union issues. But the challenge would be fun. And I love coaching people and seeing improvements. So I ask around about it, while I drag my feet hoping someone else will get it before I actually make a decision to go for it.

In other news, the youngest is coughing, lost her voice, and has COVID. She's the only one so far. We're supposed to drive 6 hours north this Friday, just over the Oregon border to Ashland. It's a little town centered around drama as in the performing art. They have a Shakespeare festival that lasts half the year and put on other plays as well. We're going to meet my parents there to watch a couple of performances Saturday and drive home on Sunday. At this point, the youngest will probably stay at home and we'll just keep testing hoping the rest of us avoid it.

It’s all about doing what you enjoy…if you enjoy challenge, why not! You’ve basically been doing a lot of the job already right? This would at least give you some more “authority” and you could be the change! Maybe demand more free lunches in the contract though.

No, this is actually a totally different job, just the same job level in a way. I'm in the Quality department now. I try to get the nurse managers to do things to make things better and bug the nursing director when need be. This is the nursing director position. So I'd be moving back into operations and the nursing department. Much bigger place. Nurse managers, assistant managers, nurses, techs, wound care, etc.

Welp, plans for the weekend changed again. Got an email that the main play we were going to see was canceled because several of the cast have COVID. After some family consultation, we decided to cancel the trip. If there wasn't a chance one of us could still turn positive, we would have gone just to spend time with my parents. But this seemed like the smartest yet frustrating choice. 🤬 COVID. This is the thrid family gathering that has been messed up at the last minute because of it.

Dang, sorry Dave.

The missus announced we’re back to masks for the long plane trip next week. Bah humbug!
