Tried a new soap today along with a new brush.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Milk Churn Best Badger (first use)
Lather: Lakewood Smokeberry (first use)
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Venture
Additional Care:
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

As klunky as it looks, I am charmed by the Simpson Milk Churn. It's comfortable in my hand and held and released plenty of lather. The Lakewood Smokeberry was interesting to me primarily due to its East Tennessee origin. Performance wise, it did wonderfully. The scent off the puck is, indeed, a smoky berry, but it was tainted on my face by new brush funkiness. So, I'll try it again with another brush to get a better sense of the scent on my face. Four passes and a BBS result, so no complaints.

Tonight was one of those great shaves with two days growth. Extra satisfying!

Razor: Rex Supply Envoy
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Duke D3 Best Badger
Lather: Spearhead Seaforth Heather (first use)
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Venture
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

With the extra day, I decided to not mess around and go for the Rex Supply Envoy. It's more aggressive than the Diamondback, but it doesn't shave any closer. Sometimes I just want the blade feel. Tonight I tried out the Seaforth Heather, and I love this soap. The scent is really delightful and assertive. I can't really describe it, but it's a terrific scent. I may have to break down next month and order the Aftershave. As it was, I went with Captain's Choice Venture. Some Borotalco and then a few sprays of the Dossier Musky Oakmoss, and I'm feeling and smelling great. BBS!

I tried out a fantastic cream today, Moon Soaps Amaretto Speciale. I absolutely love this stuff!

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Milk Churn Best Badger
Lather: Moon Soap Company Amaretto Speciale
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

I'm a big fan of almondine/marzipan things. @GearNoir used this stuff and my interest was piqued, so I placed an order. Man, does this stuff smell great! Richer and a bit more earthy than Cella, and softer. It had the consistency of vaseline. And is it ever slick! The razor skated effortlessly across my face and after four passes of amaretto enjoyment, I was left BBS and irritation free. I'm going to use it again tomorrow! I really like the Milk Churn. It's comfortable in my hand and the knot is just the right size.

That sounds like a really interesting soap, vaseline!? Man so many soaps out there now and they all sound so good.

Yes, it's got the odd combo of that texture, an amber color, and yet it's technically a cream. They render their own tallow, fwiw.

Late afternoon shave today.

Razor: Paradigm Diamondback
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Duke D3 Best Badger
Lather: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Sacré Bleu
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

PAA Sacré Bleu is in their cheaper Kokum Butter base, but that's still a very good soap. I have a few in that base, and a few in CK-6. Frankly, I'm not sure the difference warrants the price difference. They're both great. The small of Sacré Bleu is supposed to be inspired by Aqua Velva. It's not an exact match, but they go well together, and so today, they did. A four pass BBS with no irritation.

Morning shave with Heritage Hill Washington, which is a great value and a terrific soap!

Razor: Merkur 39c Slant
Blade: Gillette Platinum
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Lather: Heritage Hill Washington (first use)
Aftershave: Stetson Aftershave Splash
Additional Care:
Osma Tradition Alum Block
Humphreys Maravilla
Roberts Borotalco Talcum Powder

This soap is available in a 3oz version for $9.99, and a whopping 6oz tub for $19.99. I was impressed with the scent, which is citrus and fir. It's a great combo. The lather came with ease after about 15 seconds of loading, and it took on a fair bit of water. The lather was thick, and slickness was really very good, as was the residual slickness. I did touch ups after the fourth pass with just that slickness, after splashing my face. I was able to enjoy the scent all the way through. In sum, this is a great soap, and I'll definitely be getting some of their other offerings. 5% of the cost goes to charities benefitting veterans and first responders, which is cool. I broke out the 39c for a change, and it performed beautifully, leaving me BBS after four passes and minimal clean up. It was a great shave!
