Noise from Jeff's Garage

Square Root Pascal/USTA. Always a great shave.

I was surprised to learn some razors require a half-DE blade. I simply don't have the patience to do that.
You can also buy half DE blades (Treet and Derby for example). It's not much of a chore or challenge really. The Sweedo is in another category, it requires a modification to the blade like the early Coopers.

Jeff, who is that in your avatar? Initially I thought it was young Johnny Cash, but I don't believe so now. That reminds me, it's time to change my avatar.

Bout time somebody asked :-) . It's folksinger Phil Ochs. I don't recall for what forum I started using it but it somehow carried over here without my intervention via Tapatalk. Phil was always clean shaven.

Can't believe I missed your reply a week ago. I read a really illuminating bio of him. It cleared up some misconceptions I had about why he dropped from the public eye. Evidently Dylan wanted him on his '75 Rolling Thunder tour, but when they met up in NY to have him join the Revue, both Ochs and Dylan agreed he wasn't in shape for it. Sad. I have a cd or two of his music. (y)

Leresche 77. USTA felt a bit too mild, swapped for Kai blade for second head shave pass, felt better. MDC.

Great 77 shave, Jeff! Is there any truth to the rumor that the 77 had an impact on the design of the Kirby Beard razor? Someone had mentioned a supposed connection on another forum.

Not an expert here but I've read the Kirby Beard was produced by Leresche beginning in 1928, though the only patent I've seen is 1932, whereas the patent for the 77 dates from '35. So the 77 is the later razor.
