MarkB's Basses, Shaves & Other Obsessions

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Going with one from Pink Floyd off their 1987 album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Hope you enjoy.

Wonderful shave this morning! Today I decided on a humble Williams shave. No detectable scent, just incredibly thick and slick lather built with the Ever-Ready synth for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, Williams Aqua Velva aftershave splash and Creed "Himalaya" EdP. Some minor feedback from the alum on my neck from a little too much pressure. Other than that, perfection!

BBS bliss!!

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: The warmth continues and I'm enjoying every minute of it!

Hope you have a great day. :)

A Momentary Lapse Of Reason was the first CD I ever bought as we did that technological move from vinyl to compact disc (a move I'm now actively reversing, haha...). I loved that record at the time, and still enjoy much of it. There was an interesting remix that came out around 2019 I think, where some of the "80s sheen" of the production was lowered, and some of Richard Wright's parts were reinstated/brought up in the mix. It's an interesting listen.

haha, amazing!

I remember putting the headphones on and just being blown away by the sound of that opening track...so good!

I saw them on that tour in Toronto - a somewhat infamous gig as a kid who attended that show got high on acid and walked off a pier at the waterfront (near the venue) and drowned. It was an amazing show....I remember Gilmour's guitar on the intro of Sorrow shaking the ground...

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

It's "Synthwave Saturday" so here's a playlist for you. Hope you enjoy.

Great shave today! Returned to ETHOS Grooming Essentials and Frank's phenomenal "Indochanté" shave soap and splash. An incredible incense / floral / sandalwood scent with a phenomenal lather built with the Simpson badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel & the matching skin food splash. Again, zero feedback from the alum.

BBS bliss!!

Gonna have to get the knot replaced in this brush. Waaaaay too floppy and almost no backbone. Simpson has come a long way down.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Late post and shave. Spent the morning and afternoon with Crystal, along with my brother and sister doing some clean-up & landscaping at our parents' graves. Looks much nicer now. Storms moving in this afternoon / evening. Hope it doesn't get too bad. We're getting into severe weather season here.

Hope you have a great day. :)

It's "Metal Monday" and today I'm going with a live cut from Cali rockers, Y&T. Hope you enjoy.

Great shave today! Decided to hobo-it yesterday, so today's shave was extra nice! Returned to my vintage Yardley suite of products. Not a lot of scent from the soap, but an incredible lather built with the PAA synth for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel & the matching aftershave lotion, talc & EdC. Again, zero feedback from the alum.

BBS bliss!!

I can't get the rest of the world to get behind my proposal that we shift the clock half an hour and forget it forever. I call it Split the Difference.
