Best shave of the MONTH candidate this morning!. Returned to "Cuban Highball" from Ariana & Evans. Fantastic scent with a phenomenal lather built with the Rich Yuengel synth for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum (literally zero feedback), Quinn's Grapefruit and Orange Rind witch hazel, Czech & Speake "Cuba" aftershave lotion, Clubman talc and Czech & Speake "Cuba" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Enjoying this stretch of cooler weather. The low humidity is especially nice!!

It's "Women of Rock" Wednesday and today I'm featuring a new song from singer, songwriter and actress, Lady Gaga. Hope you enjoy.


Another phenomenal shave this morning!. Returned to ETHOS Grooming Essentials and Frank's excellent "Tortola" shave soap and splash. Fantastic Bay Rum and citrus scent with an incredibly thick and slick lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's Grapefruit and Orange Rind witch hazel, the matching skin food splash, Clubman talc and Barberry Coast "Bay Rum" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Tired today. Not the best night's sleep. Coffee and a great shave are helping.

Going with a couple today from legendary Italian Prog Rock / Fusion band, Goblin. If you've ever seen any movies by Dario Argento, then you've likely heard their music. Hope you enjoy.



Wonderful shave this morning! Returned to Stirling Soap Co. and their excellent "Lemintense" shave soap and splash. A big, bright, tart lemon scent with wonderful lather built with the Simpson badger brush for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's Grapefruit and Orange Rind witch hazel, the matching aftershave lotion, Pecksniff's talc and Dior "Eau Sauvage" EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Better rest last night thankfully. 90's are making a return but nowhere near as humid as it had been.

Spot-on scent with incredible lather built with the Ever-Ready synth brush for three passes with the Gillette "Gold Tip" and I finished with alum, Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, Mennen Skin Bracer aftershave lotion & talc and Geo. F. Trumper "Wild Fern" EdC.

Late post but a great shave to start the day! Kept with PAA, this time going with their excellent Crabtree & Evelyn for Men homage, "Crabapple & Newton" shave soap and splash. Again, spot-on scent with incredible lather built with the Wild West Brushworks synth for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, the matching aftershave lotion & Clubman talc, finishing up with more of the AS as frag.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Busy day but planning on taking it easy for the rest of the night. Brining some chicken wings to put on the smoker tomorrow!

Fantastic shave this morning! Had a different shave laid out but changed this morning, going instead with the @BarberDave Shave. Returned to Martin de Candre and their excellent "Fougère" shave soap. Great scent and a super thick and slick lather built with the Stirling Soap Co. synth for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Castle Forbes "1445" aftershave balm, Penhaligon's "English Fern" talc & Castle Forbes "1445" EdP.

Another fantastic shave this morning! This was the shave slated for yesterday prior to the last minute change. Returned to Stirling Soap Co. and their excellent "Cool Blue" shave soap. Great Blue Floid scent with a nice menthol kick and phenomenal lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Aqua Velva "Ice Sport" aftershave splash, Clubman talc & Davidoff "Cool Water" EdT.

Fantastic scent with a super thick and slick lather built with the Sorrentino Brushworks synth for three passes with the Gillette "Gold Tip" and I finished with alum, Murray and Lanman Peruvian Florida Water & Clubman talc.

Phenomenal shave this morning! Returned to Ariana & Evans and their excellent classic Brut homage, "60's Cologne" shave soap. Wonderful Old School scent with incredibly slick and cushioning lather built with the Rich Yuengel synth for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Brut aftershave lotion, Clubman talc & Brut EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Blah.. Not the best night's sleep for the last two nights. Coffee and a great shave are helping.

It's "Freaky Friday" so here's a couple of classics from the late, great Frank Zappa with the Mothers of Invention. Hope you enjoy.



Wonderful shave with which to end the workweek! Returned to CBL Soaps' fantastic "Doc Holiday" shave soap and tonic. Great peach-forward scent with superb lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, the matching aftershave tonic, Clubman talc & English Leather EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Finally Friday! Marginally better sleep last night. The heat and humidity has returned! Yuck!

Late post but a great shave to start the day. Returned to PAA and their excellent "Crabapple & Newton" shave soap and ASL. This is a spot-on dupe of the long lost Crabtree & Evelyn for Men line from the 80's. Incredible scent with superb lather built with the Ever-Ready synth for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, the matching aftershave lotion, Clubman talc and finally, more of the ASL for fragrance. The drydown of this product reminds me of Creed's "Bois du Portugal". One of the best soaps/splashes out there in both scent and performance.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Busy, busy busy today. Finally a chance to kick back and relax a bit. About to go out and grill some burgers and hot dogs.

A wonderful BBS shave to kick off the workweek. Returned to PAA and their excellent "CaD" shave soap and ASL. This is another excellent dupe of the original Barbasol shave foam scent (on which Rive Gauche was based). Fantastic Old School / Barbershop scent with incredible lather built with the Sorrentino Brushworks synth for three passes with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with alum, Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, the matching aftershave lotion, Clubman talc and YSL "Rive Gauche" EdT

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Tweaked my back Saturday so I skipped the shave yesterday. Feeling much better today.

"Best Shave of the Week" candidate this morning! Returned to "Cologne-Fougère" shave soap from Le Père Lucien. Fantastic scent and lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Gillette Red Tip and I finished with alum, Quinn's Lavender witch hazel, Pitralon Classic aftershave lotion, finishing off with Penhaligon's "English Fern" talc and EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Crazy dream last night! Was in a restaurant talking with Mick Jagger... Eric Clapton was there too! It then changed and I (along with my co-worker) were paramedics... for dogs.. On an emergency call and I kept getting pissed because he was driving and kept taking wrong turns... 😵‍💫
