If you have to do something...

Getting caught back up and glad the dog is doing better. We have 3 and this bi-polar Texas Spring had them all at the vet with respiratory issues. Luckily it’s behind us now.

I am still laughing at The Veg. Cat spray + splash it like you stole it = ewwwwww.

Lol. Yes central CA had some crazy wind yesterday, the allergy suffering was real!

Shave #72:

I forgot today was Saturday already! Geeze this week flew by!

So Saturday means SR/shavette only. I took the Feather in for a 2 pass. Today’s soap was Wickham 1912: Club Cola, which is a scent even more far out there for me than T&S: West Indies!

The soap was definitely a “soda” scent. The extreme sweetness was there, the smell of carbonation, but it smelled more like a lemon/lime/7up type scent than cola. The lather took a bit of work, but came out very beautifully and held plenty of water, a positive point in my vegan soap experiences to date. The moisturization wasn’t quite there however in the post shave, even with a lather soak. I had to put on a little extra face moisturizer after all was said and done, and I didn’t even do an alum pass.

Shave ended with a SAS/CCS, as I go into my “Friday” and the toughest day of my work week.

Good Read Chris! I find that the majority of vegan/veggie soaps just don't do it for me in the moisturizing department.

Yea, the slickness was not bad, but that moisturizing...must be my skin feeling it’s 5 year old roots and hating veggies. ?

I wish the soap performance had been better for you. Sounds like a passable shave, though.

I hope you have a good day at work.

Oh, part of an earlier inquiry in how to improve Pinaud. A majority consensus is to decant them into glass bottles. The hot sauce bottles “should” be easy to come by and have a flow limiter already.

I improved my Pinaud experience years ago. I PIFed it to my son.

Good shave Chris!
Since I always use after shave of some kind, post shave feel for a soap isn't something I really look at. Unless of course I ever use one that just dries my face out, but that hasn't happened yet.

Could be that your soaps already have it? Maybe that’s why you haven’t really looked for it!

Its just a little bit more conditioning and moisture for the skin after the shave, but with the rest of the regimen, it makes a difference for me.

This evening’s mad experiment:

1) Decant original Clubman
2) Decant Brut Splash On cologne and begin conversion to Splash On AS.

Shave #73:

Happy Sunday!

I’ve been missing my usual AOS Sandalwood dedicated day the last couple weeks due to trying new products, so I decided to at least use a sandalwood scented soap today.

Today’s soap was Soap Commander: Commitment. I also finished off a little differently by adding in some massages of a minty astringent alcohol and witch hazel, then doing a little preshave oil with a balm.

The soap was OK, I didn’t realize it was another veg soap until I read the rest of the label as I was lathering up. Lol, Dave pushing his veggies on me! The lather was moderately slick though a tad thin. The scent itself was simple, single note, partially sappy, hint of sandalwood; kind of plain.

Another 2 pass day. The Feather did moderately good reduction, but was a little tuggy; it seems that everyone’s SR issues from yesterday followed me over to today! I also had the prewar Tech ready to go; a nice smooth shaver as always.

One thing I notice in the last couple months is that I’ve had an increasingly difficult time getting the stubble on the under side of my chin and jaw. The hair seems to be a bit more resistant/defiant to getting a close shave, usually taking a good amount of clean up. Haven’t decided yet if it’s just me getting sloppy with my angles or noticing more the wear of prolonged use of a blade.

In all, not a bad shave today. Only one scrape, but little irritation.

Last night’s decanting went well. The hot sauce limiters still smell spicy a little so I’m going to soak them in dawn a bit more. The Brut splash on experiment may also be ready for some more witch hazel and isopropyl. The mixture did not turn cloudy, yet, which I’m thankful for.

I hope today is a nice relaxing day for the missus, she deserves it! I’ll certainky do my part.

Nice one Chris...not sure why everyone is getting poor/tuggy shaves out of their SR's lately. It's becoming an epidemic!

Looking forward to how your experiment with the Brut goes...

Great read and shave Chris!

Well I certainly hope the rash of sub par straight shaves is done with!

For me Soap Commander is a great performer!

Good shaves Chris! Sounds like the vegan soaps can be a bit tricky. Haven't tried one myself yet, but I may just steer clear of them all together.
