If you have to do something...

Totally forgot to mention that this morning’s shave was my inaugural lathering of the PIF brush from @JTSpartan ! I nicknamed it the Spartan Burl.

Fantastic handle shape and ergonomics. The sparkly black resin against the dark burl wood is a great touch. And little did I know but this APShave Synthetic (24mm Fan 'premium') knot set in the brush shares a lot of characteristics with my favorite synthetic knot, the Yaqi pony knot! Win on all fronts!

Shave #355 (500 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SP blade, TH Taurus A synth brush, CBL Sir Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Sir Irisch Moos AS, and JPG Le Male to finish!

Hurrying my butt out the door. Unexpectedly have to cover an IDT meeting for a fellow chaplain who’s under the weather. Lots of nurses and other support staff also under the weather or dealing with mild COVID-like symptoms. It’s the season I guess.

Great shave though!

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Lord bless you for your daily efforts with unscented software. If I didn’t have some variety, I don’t think I could do it.
For some reason, I don't find consistently excellent shaves the least bit boring. Spare me adventures such as I had today. For me, it's been about the quality of the shaves, not a good smelling soap. Though I do miss the variety in AS.

Shave #356 (500 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL Steel Grey Fougere soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Dior Sauvage Elixir to finish!

Last day for this work week!

Groggy start but the shave helped a lot. Glad for a more neutral setup today as the focus was less on the shave and more on my first use of a Dior Sauvage Elixir decant that I received in the mail yesterday. This is the strongest of the 3 regular Sauvage iterations. It’s definitely living up to that hype. 3 sprays and the scent feels like it’s rolling off me in waves. Thankfully it’s a nice scent. Sauvage is hard to describe - in general is a purpley-blueish frag. Really smoothly mixed. The cinnamon top note lasts only the briefest of seconds. I get some of the cardamom and nutmeg. Plenty of lavender as it dries down. Only just now getting into some of the patchouli, vetiver, and amber. It’s definitely normal Sauvage with extra depth and intensity! Should be interesting to see where it finally lands!

IDT meeting this morning again. Then some patients to see. Should be a moderately busy day.

Have a good one y’all!

Elixir update! I was not big of the original Sauvage EdT when I tried it…but this…this blows the other away! It’s dried down to a really scrumptious, dry, blueish sandalwood. Very nice!

Elixir is pricey, this 10ml decant thick tall boy cost me $33 which is about at-price for a decant. A full bottle hovers in the $160 range. Could be well worth it in the future. For now I’ll savor the decant!

So nice…I had to do it again (most of it anyway)! Great, chill shave. Gave an extra spray of Elixir and hoooooooo I’m swimming in scent! Very nice 😎👍

Have the day off for the New Years long weekend. So I got to sleep in a bit. Chill day ahead. Have to run to the store for some last minute snacks for the New Years but other than that it’ll be a nice family day hanging out together.

Hope you all have a great Friday. As this old year closes I pray that for each of you this new year brings blessing.
