Shave #93 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Blackland Vector, Proline blade, Paladin Harlequin Chief 26mm brush, CBL Grassroots Lavender soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Speick AS, and 4711 EDT to finish!

Nice, alarm-less wake up and a nice, casual morning. Went out for a coffee n walk with the missus. Bought a new Weber for the coming outdoor months.

Great noon-time cleanup n shave with a refreshing software combo.

Doing some light chores and watering the yard. Gotta do a little writing and reading for various spiritual duties. A chill day at home otherwise!

Hope you’re all having just as relaxing a Saturday!

Shave #94 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable, Schick Twin blade, RR r400 brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and GFT Sandalwood cologne to finish!

Going to be a busy first half of the day, scampering around and getting stuff ready for services!

Nice shave to help wake me up though. Back to the faux Proraso Red 3017. Finished up my GFT Sandalwood sample today. Not bad overall...still more something sweet than woody to me.

Sat here having my coffee n traditional hot cross bun before heading in to work.

Happy Easter all. He is risen!

He is risen indeed!

I saw a message on a church billboard yesterday. It said “Spoiler Alert: The tomb is empty.”

Nice cleanup n shave this morning though I’m still a bit tired.

This week will be spent cleaning up after the Holy Week festivities.

Let’s go Monday, bring it!

Have a good one y’all.

Shave #96 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Parker Adjustable, Tactonic blade, Stirling 2-band synth brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and Hugo Boss to finish!

Today is my Wednesday!

Pretty good shave. I mean, nothing really changed except the brush and frag. Hard to go too wrong! 😂

Looking forward to restarting the Thursday morning Bible study class this week. Sounds like it’ll be small (the class is for our seniors group) for now. Still, it’ll be nice to see them and talk with them.

Have a great Tuesday all!

Shave #97 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, Yaqi Rainbow w/ pony synth brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and Zaharoff Pour Homme to finish!

Tired but up and moving.

Great shave today. The Tech is such a perfect shaver...sometimes I think to myself, why did I ever even bother to buy anything else?

Two more shifts to get through. Gotta wrap up my study this afternoon, after work, so it’s ready for tomorrow.

Have great Wednesday all!

I've been using my Tech a lot more lately too. Such an easy shaver, I'm going to put the Rocket HD over it, because it feels just as smooth, but gets my neck better.

The old Gillettes are most of my shaves, I keep thinking of getting a modern razor, but there are so many to choose from and for that money I want to be sure it's a love.

I fall into that camp as well - I'd say somewhere between 60-75% of my shaves are with a vintage Gillette. I really want to try a Vector but the price point is steep to not but sure if I'll love it. Might have to grab a cheap RR Hawk or something first.

Yea the Gillette vintages are just hard to pass up. They’ve got the great shaves and they’re dirt cheap for the most part. Moderns on the other hand...can be quite the gamble.

The Hawk (granted, it was a v1) just doesn’t hold a candle to the Vector for me. For AC SEs you could probably take your pick from the Vector, General, or Occam and not go wrong whatever you chose.

Ha, I don't doubt that! But having never used an AC SE, spending $200+ on a Vector or General to maybe not even like feels like too much a gamble compared to say $30 for a Hawk.

Shave #98 (459 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Gillette Prewar Tech, Bic Chrome Platinum blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, Proraso Red soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, Proraso Red AS, and GFT Leather cologne to finish!

Decent nights sleep. Probably could have used longer...but at least it’s my Friday!

Good shave this morning. Pulled out the lighter, less obtrusive GFT Leather cologne to finish it off, since I’ll be around the elder folk later.

Bit of a busy day ahead between work, Bible study in the middle of that, mentoree meeting after work, then I’ve got some things to do still for my mentoree meeting tomorrow.

It’s been a long week. Looking forward to some rest the next couple of days.

Have a great Thursday all!
