If you have to do something...

Going back through my 12 Whiskeys of Christmas sampler in reverse order. First time through was neat, second time through was with some drops of water, this time I’m pouring the last third over an ice cube. Not changing my rankings though.

Tonight last 1/3 of #10: Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Islay Single Malt scotch

Scent: The sharpie peat scent is pretty watered down, almost fresh...but still there! Fo sho! Slight notes of buttery caramel.

Taste: Phew...peat, peat, and more peat! Bandaid, medicine, etc. Really large bitter oak/smoke note.

Blech!

Shave #57 (456 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Blackland Vector, Proline blade, Paladin Harlequin Chief 26mm brush, CBL Cherry Blossom & Bamboo soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Tom Ford Oud Wood to finish!

Today and tomorrow off! Enjoying what I can 👍

Have a great Friday all!

Shave #58 (456 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Blackland Vector, Proline blade, SV/TSC Il Re Tasso d’Oro brush, SV 70th soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, SV 70th AS, and Guerlain Vetiver to finish!

Late morning shave after a coffee and walk with the missus. A little bit rough from the blade, so it was tossed after the shave. Thankfully I had chosen SV for the shave, so between my witch hazel/aloe blend and the SV AS, my face didn’t suffer more than some minor ill effects.

Back to work tomorrow, le sigh.

Have a great Saturday all!

Shave #59 (456 Open Blade Shaves) of 2021:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Schick Twin blade, Yaqi Sagrada Familia synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, homemade witch hazel/aloe mix, LNHC Barber Shoppe post shave elixir, and Perry Ellis Oud Saffron Rose Absolute to finish!

Back to the grind!

Pretty great shave today. The Schick M is the original SE King of the Den...before the General Brass and Vector were tried. The Twin in here is a little tired but I still got a nice BBS. So tempted to pick up the M for sale somewhere else...moist resist. Between the Parker and the M I do have, if they get taken care of decently, the pair should outlast me.

Last Sunday before the “major” switch back to mainly indoor services, at the pre-COVID times, in both the classic and modern spaces. The outdoor service seating has dwindled quite a bit. And since it seems like we’re skipping Spring this year...maybe it’ll go altogether? We’ll see.

Have a blessed Sunday all!

Tonight last 1/3 of #11: Laphroaig 10 year Islay Single Malt scotch

Scent: Super, icy fresh peat! If a sharpie could be “fresh”, this is it!

Taste: Whooo man! That packs a peaty punch! Peat, smoke, oak/wood, medicinal...maybe a touch smoother and less gross than Bruichladdich. Not by much though lol.

Ever get trolled by pranksters and phish robots who send mass text messages at ungodly hours of the night? Yeah...I didn’t get uninterrupted sleep lol. Finally had enough brain sense to find the Do Not Disturb after about 10 minutes.

Great shave this morning. Swapped in a fresh Twin blade. Sadly I only have one or two more of these and then they’re gone for good. The secondary market is bloated because stock is almost nonexistent now. Schick really should bring these back into production.

Let’s get this Monday out of the way!

Have a great one y’all!

Those kind of electronic disturbances are from “le douches”
Thats the perfect name for them!
I get those stupid spam texts from time to time, but thankfully never in the middle of the night!
Fortunate man! I pray you never do! 😂
That was one of the first functions I figured out myself on my phone lol. It has been a lifesaver.
I’m so used to being “accessible” I’ve never really bother looking lol.

I’ve done it! Tonight is the final evaluation of the whiskeys! This awesome gift lasted over 2 months! What fun it’s been!

Tonight last 1/3 of #12: Balvenie 14 year Caribbean Rum Cask Single Malt Scotch

Scent: Ahhh...a somewhat more normal scent, after that string of heavily peated tests. It smells cool, icy, slightly rum-ish, but definitely in the scotch realm. Smells a bit on the sweet side.

Taste: Actually a pretty nice first sip. A bit refreshing for a whiskey (not something I’d normally categorize a whiskey as). The rum taste is quite prevalent. Definitely showcasing that sweeter, fruitiness. Finally...the ice didn’t totally ruin something! 😂

Is it my Wednesday already?! Nice! 😎

Great shave this morning. Not much to report though...donut hole is getting bigger little by little and I smell darn good!

Bible study over Zoom this evening. Gotta work on my sermon a little bit. Finally got a shipping notice on the table top game I ordered. Moving along!

Have a great Tuesday all!

Hah! Not quite. I’ve never actually played D&D 🤔

I ordered two games from the same title series: Dice Throne Season 2 and Dice Throne Adventures. DTs2 is supposed to be a fun versus game that’s a cross between a Yahtzee style dice roller and MTG. DTA is an expansion that allows you to take the characters from DTs2 and do dungeon crawling cooperatively.
