If you have to do something...

I mean I could always ask, it never hurts, but SWMBO already thinks I spend too much (lol) and the entry fee on those is quite steep. Thankfully the only expensive thing I really want otherwise is a Feather DX. I’m not really ADing after anything else right now except a piece of elite software or two and a couple decent frags.

Catching up, looking forward to watching the video. I have an Omega boar that I haven't used in over a year. Seeing your pics makes me think I should pull it out and give it another shot.

I’ve got an Omega Pro 10049 I used regularly for a while, very nice brush for the price, lathers even the triple milled soaps with relative ease.

Shave #142:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Pro blade (19), RR Game Changer, Astra SP (16), Rudy Vey Egg w/ Muhle synth, TOBS Sandalwood, and since it’s Friday I finished with my cut Pinaud Clubman decant!

Today was a shave to test out the RV Egg synth brush. Definitely did not skimp on the soap load today! Did my normal, off-day face wash and warm water prep to get things started off on the right foot.

The Muhle synth knot is very nice and soft, though not as soft as the Shavemac, perhaps a tad softer than my Big Bruce, so pretty much zero scrub, a bit less dense, with decent backbone.

Compared to the Big Bruce, the Muhle knot is diminutive but no less effective. I did sling a little bit of lather and had lather dripping a bit over the handle. I think I’m just used to the Bruce being able to hold everything due to its knot size. The handle was a tad slippery when picking it up and putting it down for relathering, but once in hand I did not feel like it was going to slip out. I think today’s shave solidified that this brush will go to my father. Tomorrow I will shave with the 10th Anniversary boar just to be sure.

I did a second bath for all the brushes last night. The lounge scent seems to have left all the knots for the time being. Only the handle of the RV Shavemac is retaining the smoke, like I mentioned in my video though, it’s not unpleasant for me.

The shave itself was per usual. I managed 2 Feather passes and a final pass plus clean up with the GC. No irritation today, BBS everywhere except the upper lip, which I left on DFS.

Another 100+ degree day today for work. It hasn’t been quite as miserable as the beginning of the week thankfully. The humidity has backed of at least. Really looking forward to making the coast for our church's annual All Church Conference. It’s a nice time of good food, friends, some teaching, and plenty of fun for the families.

Happy Friday all, we made it to the weekend!

"Don't worry, that's a brush hair." I spit out my coffee when you said that!

Great Shave! But come on man...that tub of TOBS looks empty to me. It's time to move on! As far as your brush goes...For now I would use what you have. But you really need to get yourself a decent but cheep synthetic for travel. The RazoRock Plissoft brushes are better than a lot of natural hair brushes and is only a sawbuck. You will be hard pressed to find a better brush at that cost. Anyway...thanks for sharing!

Lol, thanks for watching Don!

Yes, I love RR synths. I may get one eventually, but you’re right, for now I’ll probably use the AOS brush.

Open blade shave break:

Gear: RR Game Changer, Astra SP (17), B&B 10th Anniversary boar, TOBS Sandalwood, and CC Venture to close.

Yes, that’s right, no open blade today. Made the call this morning as I had to get up much earlier than normal and didn’t sleep well. I was mentally fumbling quite a bit, as I was getting ready for work, so I made it a DE day.

Shave was great, leaving me an easy 95%ish BBS, no issues. I loaded the TOBS pretty heavily to try and kill it off, but there’s still enough for one more shave, and I didn’t want to cheat on my 3017.

The boar performed well, as I expectied it would being an Omega knot. The knot was an adjustment again, flinging a little bit and dribblin; I guess I’m just used to the bigger knots. This has plenty of backbone though, face lathered like a champ and was pretty comfortable as long as I didn’t smash it too hard.

The PIFed synth and boar are both decent and brushes my dad might enjoy; the synth had a tad of the scent return after its drying time yesterday. So the plan is to put both through another shave or two before I make the final decision. It’ll have to wait till after my vacation though. And, since I’m not taking the TOBS on my vacation, I’m definitely killing it tomorrow, forgoing my usual “free shave” Sunday.

Definitely ready to have this day’s shift over so I can get stuff ready for our time off!

Happy Saturday all!

Open blade shave #143:

Gear: Feather AC SS, Pro blade (20), RR Game Changer, Astra SP blade (18), RV Shavemac D01 Silvertip, Sandalwood Creeper (TOBS Sandalwood + Proraso Green), and Fine Platinum to finish.

Tetelestai, it is finished!

Another early morning, but I got just enough sleep not to be fumbling the Feather thankfully!

Typical 3 pass, Feather taking the first 2 and GC the final with a little touch up.

I brought out the Shavemac for what I hoped would be a redemption shave for it. Still working on it. The first pass was great, second pass, the lather that was nice when I set it down was thin, third pass I had to load more soap. Except for that frustration, the shave was great.

Today, before heading off to church, I cleaned out all my gear and left it out to dry for storage or to throw in the travel kit.

I’ll be on and off the coming week, busy, but enjoying vacation and family time. I’ll try to post some photos when I can, as well as my final travel setup.

Happy Sunday all!

Using the last of the tub, it’s easy to have too little product. Get that brush on a good puck and load for 30-40 seconds, and I bet you’ll see a huge difference.

And congrats on killing that tub!

Thanks KJ!

I had enough cream with the Proraso thrown in. Well, what would have been enough for my Big Bruce anyway. Next outing will be on a puck of some kind though, you’re right.

As for what’s going in the tub, this week I think I’ll use it as my travel bowl, then when I get back I’ll go through my Grooming Department one sample at a time.

Wholly crap! I was 21 days behind! How in the crap did that happen???

My apologizes Chris! It wasn't on purpose I assure you.

Great mail calls, reads, and shaves.

I'll do my best to watch the videos ASAP!

I was beginning to wonder if the TOBS was going to last longer than my catch up!
