If you have to do something...

Fine AB is a fantastic scent for sure. I've seen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse a couple times now, and love it.

Shave #95 (273 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: RR Game Changer .68, Rapira blade, Sorrentino SE TSC 1st Anniversary badger brush, CBL Roasted Oatmeal Stout soap, generic witch hazel, and Ogalalla Bay Rum & Sandalwood AS to finish!

Tackling the No Handle Shave Challenge today...with good humor!

Shave #96 (273 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Supply Injector (3-dot aggressive plate), Supply blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, Proraso Red soap, generic witch hazel, and Proraso Red AS to finish!

Great shave today with the more aggressive Supply injector plate. It’s weird how such a small adjustment in plate measurements can make such a noticeable difference! To my naked eye, holding the plates side-by-side, I was hard pressed in noticing a difference. It was only when the razor was assembled that I noticed, I think, a slight increase in blade gap; the plate may also push the blade forward a tad, I’m not sure. During the shave though, the blade feel/aggression was a definite step up; undecided on efficiency. WTG and XTG were still pretty smooth, final pass was a bit more tricky, but doable.

Taking a page out of Tim’s book, I brought out the Proraso Red, which hasn’t seen light in a good while. Coaxed our a good lather with the Big Bruce and enjoyed the shave. Having spent so many weeks with top tier soaps, the lather quality difference was noticeable, but it was not disappointing, just markedly different.

Back to work today for another busy week. Volleyball going on, a college orchestral performance coming up, and Easter to prepare for. Git er dun!

Have a great Tuesday all!

Nice shave Chris and I got the same effect after using the better soaps and then trying something else which is what had me thinking about the den reduction of some soaps even when I like the scent (Can always get the Splash for the scent)

Thanks Dave! I agree, splashes are a good substitute for scents you like but don’t want the soap of.

I think I used Proraso for at least a year exclusively when I started wet shaving. Still love the scent on the red. The splash is basically a poor man's DR Harris sandalwood.
My technique was pretty raw, but I occasionally got shaves where there was a touch of residual slickness that I thought was magical.

After reading enough about all the great artisans in the US I ordered from one, it was such a night and day difference to me that I just never looked back.

Interesting, I don’t find DRH and Proraso Red to be very similar.

I get what you mean by not restocking it once gone. There is a lot better out there performance-wise, but I find the scent pleasant and unique. Still have a ways to go until I have to figure out if I’m going to reorder, thankfully!
