Grooming Dept Soap release...

Frankenlime and Cascade here. I've always wanted to try Frankenlime since I first saw it , but it was always sold out, totally happy to try it in a soap.
Cascade has Sichuan Pepper in it. I think you are about to experience a skin peel along with your shave.

Well, it has been a while but, GD will have another soap drop of their new Fortis base that will be offered for $15 and at 5oz not in their normal 4oz offerings. Plus there will be a couple other of their higher end soaps availablr as well. The drop is tentatively set for October 22. The Fortis base has been getting for the most part, positive reviews from those that have received test samples and the general consensus is that it is perhaps just a notch below GD's higher end bases. Still, not bad for the $$$ and the amount of product and I'd like to think a tad less in base ingredients and still be 90-95% of GD's best is not a bad compromise at all. Looking forward to this release.

I've got to say that the Lusso and Donkey Base soaps that I have are just stupidly good.

Tentazione in the Lusso base last night and as always with GD soaps, no disappointments from scent to performance. Ultra creamy lather that feels decadent on ones face. The scent is just about right for me in strength and what it projects once it's lathered up. Light apple with some type of flowery aroma intertwined there resting on a nice woody base. A matching splash would be icing on the cake with this soap version.

Two words"unbelievably good".

Got my first shaving with Ingress. As interest was show in a different topic, figured I'd share my thoughts...

I used my rockwell 6s on plate 4 (usually I go with plate 3, but I wanted to test this one, as it has quite the reputation)...

The smell of the puck was that of a sweet cologne. There was something a little gamey, which I presume is the tallow. I've smelled this before, especially in Mike's. Definitely not a big deal, the scent usually disappears in lathering. There was another scent, strong and pungent, like paint. Not certain what it was, but I'm sure part of it was the cologne mingling with something else. All of that said, it's actually a wonderful smell. It's a cologne smell, but not musky, with a fair amount of sweetness. My first thought was the 1990s.

I scooped some in the dish, and as I believe I said before, was shocked that this is a soft soap. I added water and whipped up what turned out to be a low structure, very slick lather. The first pass was fine, exactly what I expect from a good soap. By time I reach the third pass the I noticed that the lather was thinner / more translucent. I also noticed it was twice as slick as the first pass. As my third pass is ATG this was absolutely perfect.

In the end I rinsed, applied after shave, and was treated with a moisture rich and happy face.

I am impressed... Or at least I was until my 15yo. daughter told me it smelled like her friends cologne. Lol.

@mrdoug I really like the picture you took. Very nice. And wasn't it nice for your daughter to bring you back down to earth.
Lol, yeah. What a "nice" person she was being . Lol.

Thanks on the picture . Took it with my cell phone (Pixel 2) then I applied the filter work in Prisma (app). [emoji846]
