Fluffy's Curmudgeon Corner

Hello Cadre.
Hope all of you are having a good Saturday.
Slept in a bit this AM. Then the wife and I got motivated. Went out to take here knee scooter back. But they were closed, But didn't bother to update their website. So that was nice.
While we were out. We also went down to the Daughter in laws place. Which is down in Sparrows Point. Approx. 25 miles away. It's a high density kind of area. And wouldn't you know it. My wife insisted that we had to stop and get them some stuff. So I had to go into Walmart. F'me.
Well the cast and extras from walking dead all decided to go shopping today too. Yikes this is what happens when you short circuit natural selection. I am by no means a genius but damn my self esteem was really boosted. I just got in and out with a little interaction as possible. Cross that place off for the duration of the rest of my time on this here planet.

Tonight's shave is the stunt shave brought to me by @GearNoir and @Spider . Should be fun. Nice change up from my straights. Load it up with a Voskhod And have at it.
Will post up a vid. As it seems some on here have run out of things to watch already. :)
Take it easy guys.
@Majorrich Thinking about you and hoping that things are going as well as possible.

How you doing @NurseDave ?
Glad you get some enjoyment out of my goofy observations. I try to make light of things. And avoid being serious at all cost. Sense of humor is what keeps me from going postal.
Sooo glad the government hasn't been able to figure out how to read/hear peoples thoughts. Or else I'd be screwed.

Hey Ken,

Random question, what do you think of the Filarmonica 13?
Well I have never tried a Fili 13. But they should be every bit as good as a 14 just 1/8" smaller. I have lots of 6/8th's and 13/16th's razors. With Flili's most of what I have read tells us to stay away from any that don't have JMP on the tang. The last years seem to have had some bad QC. I have had good luck getting on Ebay Spain. All three of my Fili's I got from there. For better prices than US Ebay. Just make sure they accept paypal and ship to the US. And be sure they have good clear pictures.
If you like 6/8 very thin grind razors don't overlook the American razors. Genco, Burrell, Case, Cattaragus, Clauss, Robeson, and others can all hold their own with any razor. Though 6/8th's are less common than 5/8th's.
Then there are the Japanese razors. Most of them are 6/8 and I have yet to get a bad one. Gold Rex, Aiku, Kikoboshi, Scheon Burg, Ribbon, and so many more.
If I can help you with any more. Just ask. Not that I'm the #1 expert on razors. Just an expert on what I like.

That is really helpful Ken, thank you! I have been reading up on Case and Genco razors because I would like to get some U.S straights. There is actually a long list of razors (de and straights) that I currently have going. I am not super particular between 5/8 and 6/8 razors. If I didn't get a good shave the day before, or I skipped a day then I use my 6/8 and if my growth isn't that bad then the 5/8 gets the nod. I'll check out the Spain ebay for sure.

@Patelliott No problem. If you keep an eye out for Burrell Top Flight razors I have a soft spot for them. Really hollow /thin good grind. Scales are sometimes a bit wonky on em. But I had three at one time. Gave two away to friends for some special accomplishments. Robesons also got a couple of them. Genco's too.
The Ebay Spain thing works really well. Fili's are like their Genco. But most sellers are aware they command a premium. But with some patience and if you aren't looking for mint NOS then there are deals to be had.
Fluffy.

Happy Sunday Cadre.
Very good morning for me. Slept as long as I wanted. Me and the dog got up. Snuck downstairs and got some coffee. Decided to make some waffles and sausage. I sure do like breakfast cooking.
But better than cooking breakfast. Is.....Eating it. The wife enjoys being waited on as well.
The other bright spot was catching up with some of my favorite folks here. This has become one of my little oasis' of fun.
My political shows are another reason Sunday is fun. Some of you may hate politics. And I am careful to not bring it in here. But I do enjoy following along. Wish more people took part in the process.
Gonna go to one of my Japanese straights since @Majorrich got me thinking about them in his vid. And going to try the Nuavia Rossa soap @Dave in KY so generously sent me a while ago.
Been waiting to try it. Now I think is a good day to use/savor it. Hope you guys are all doing well.

Well the rest of my day did go well. And my shave was purty darn good. Thanks to @Majorrich for the seed he planted for using one of my Japanese straights. And thanks to @Dave in KY for supplying the suds.
Line up was as follows.
Toyo 777 The Scheon Burg Real German Hollow Ground
Panna Crema Nuavia Rossa.
Razorock 400
Proraso Red AS

This soap was very nice. Scent is very nice. While I do wish it was stronger. And the performance was very good. This is a soap I could see myself getting a tub of.
So far out of Dave's samples. Zingari Man Soloist, Declaration Grooming Trismegistus and the Nuavia Rossa. Are on my WTB list. Lots of others have been good. But those are the ones that caught my attention scent wise and paired it with very good performance.
You can hear my meandering thoughts during this shave over in the vid section if you want. I won't be offended if you pass. But I may need a tissue if It doesn't get enough views to make me feel special.
Have a good rest of the night.

It's got a nonstick coating. But it is still best to hit it with some Crisco. But works great. If you prefer the edge pieces on brownies. Then it's almost as good as being the only single hetero guy at a fashion show. Lots of opportunity to enjoy yourself.

Good day today Cadre.
As you can see dessert is already sorted out. Doctors visit with the wife went well. She got the all clear to start forgoing the "boot" And start giving her worked on foot. Some work.
Right now she is sewing up some surgical masks. We don't want any cooties.
Mines gonna be a burgundy color. And I want her to embroider either a Mr. Yuck logo or a Skull and crossbones on it.

Was thinking that it's been a while since I have used one of my Russian straights. So that's stropped up on deck. For round two with the Nuavia Rossa.
Dave had a great video today. Nice to hear about how everyone is muddling through this Wuhan bug.
Here in Maryland we have 250 or so positive patients out of 6 Million people. I am hopeful that things stay manageable for the caregivers/hospitals. Everyone seems to be dealing a little better with the social distance. And limiting contacts and not being out unnecessarily. Grocery stores seem to stable supply and demand wise except for TP.
Lot's of places are modifying how they do things or are already closed. The Gov. has ordered non essential businesses to close at 5pm today. Guess he just wants to be very proactive. I can see both sides of the equation. If I owned a business that didn't get exempted. And had to close up. I would be upset.
But the what if scenario's seem to be taking the lead. Hope everyone affected by this is able to come out the other side.
The last "I remember when" demarcation line in our lives was 9-11. Now for us there will be comparisons of life before and after the Corona virus as well.
Hang in there everybody and stay safe. (and clean shaven :)
