Never tried one. I remember reading about them and thinking they were not for me. I'll be interested in your impressions.

Yea Bruce. I'm curious what they are like. Compared to the badger and boar varieties. Also curious to see if the black badger ends up being a keeper. These are more of an experiment. To round out my variety of brush types. I'll be posting up my thoughts on them once they are received and put to use.

Week has been good for me Chris. Wasn’t burning up the freeways like you. Just a chill kind of holiday round these parts.
The Missus baked a couple different kind of cookies. I help make some of the overnight doughs. I did some bread and my chocolate chip muffins.
I would gauge it about shin deep.

Nice day and shave. The year is almost over. And I have yet to pick out my set up for the last shave of 2021. More importantly the set up for the first shave of ‘22.
Cause I’m sure you all know that the first shave of the year. Sets the tone for every shave that follows. No pressure….but you people better get it right.

Nice day and shave. The year is almost over. And I have yet to pick out my set up for the last shave of 2021. More importantly the set up for the first shave of ‘22.
Cause I’m sure you all know that the first shave of the year. Sets the tone for every shave that follows. No pressure….but you people better get it right.

New Year’s Eve Shave

Back to where it (shaving) began for me. My first shaves were with Bic disposable plastic turds. The next razor I got was this Fatboy. My Dad had one. So why not, right? Circa 1986. Loaded with the Acme branded DE blades. Because my dad worked at Acme markets from the 60's till the late 80's. The blades were ok. But after 3 or 4 shaves they fell off pretty quick. And being cheap I usually kept on with them for prolly 9-10 shaves. Tugging pulling and generally pissing me off. One reason why daily shaves were not in the SOP.
Canned shave cream was used as well.
Thankfully for this shave. Voskhod is the blade. The soap is most certainly not in a can. Using this razor is basically second nature. With it set to 4 with a fresh blade. And up to 5 after two or three uses. But since they are so cheap they are usually tossed after the fifth use. No more tugging with a DE for me.
New years went uneventfully for the missus and I.

Razorock 400 Gealousy Badger Knot

The other end of my spectrum. This is my one and only “custom” straight. The knot I put into the handle is super nice. And the SV soap just does everything that you need a soap to do. The Tabac Man matches up pretty well with the scent of the opuntia. This is a setup you could use over and over and still enjoy.
Made two little personal pizzas for dinner. Still haven’t perfected my dough shaping to get the crust edge like i like it. But homemade fresh pizza for about $1 a piece is not a bad deal.
Also got the call from work. Snow is forecast for Monday morning. So I’ll be in Daddy’s Girl at 0200. Winter is upon us.
I’ll let you know how Bob,Mini Me, AST Barbie and myself make out.

Yea Tim. Have already had a few blips. Since I was on use or loose leave for last couple weeks. Daddy’s Girl got “rigged up” by the rookies. We have a couple new hires.
So the hydraulic lines were hooked up incorrectly. Chains weren’t set for my spreader box. And my road temp sensor array is inoperable.
After a bit of cussing under my breath the spreader was quickly fixed. New battery in the sensor has not fixed it. So batting 500.

Was running on reserve after being up for 36 hours. So safety razor was prolly a good choice.
Up and at em at 0355 today. SOP is to head out early the day after a snow event. To ensure that there are no ice patches that may cause issues.
First snow skirmish of ‘22. Was a good shake down run for Daddy’s Girl. I have a feeling that the laws of nature are going to seek out balance. Resulting in a more severe winter. To make up for last few being mild.
Bob and Mini me are in agreement. AST Barbie says she can tell if it’s gonna be bad weather. By how frizzy her hair is. Bob has now nicknamed her “Weather Bimbo Barbie”. Had to turn up the radio to drown out the bickering.
Gonna text my buddy Butchie that runs the sign shop to see if he wants to grab some breakfast in a bit.

Wednesday’s Shave was a Fatboy affair. Can’t remember the rest of the setup. Thursday night me and the gang were bouncing around in Daddy’s Girl. So scruffy is the word of the day. Got about four inches. Of wet snow. The kind that packs down and is slick as a slimy politician.
Started sticking to the roads about 0130 Friday. Stopped snowing around 0630. We been hard at until now. 1000 getting my route plowed curb to curb. Casualties 10 tons of salt. One mailbox. One Subaru All wheel drive with accompanying stupid owner of said vehicle. Not doing too bad for having been up for let’s see for 29 hours and counting. Hot shower and shave is going be nice this evening.
