Fluffy's Curmudgeon Corner

Years ago I used to use an HTML editor for my website called Aardvark. I had a hard drive crash and when rebuilding my machine, I went to the Interwebs to download my HTML editor. Oh my … don’t google search for Aardvark. The listings were not PG. WTF was right. So … I chose another editor.
 
I know Tim. I mean I’m not a choir boy by any stretch of the imagination. But boy howdy there are some strange bizarre folks/things “out there”. I’ll end this thought with the classic Seinfeld line, “not that there’s anything wrong with that” ;).

Tried a new thing on the boar knot in the brass handle. I soaked it in a beer mug full of water in the fridge 24hrs. Then shook it out and briskly stropped it on a towel for about 10mins. It did improve the feel of the tips a fair bit. I plan to repeat this for another day or two. As it was not really breaking in like my Omega did. It was time to force the issue.

Got two packages today. Both of them I could not immediately recollect what the heck they were. After the wife opened the one then synapsis began to fire. And it came to me.
The one box arrived much sooner than Aliexpress said it would. My Oumo boar knots have arrived. One is setting up as I write this. On deck for my Christmas Eve shave.
Gotta tell ya right out the gate this feels like a very nice knot. Looking forward to trying it out. The knot in the Brass edition handle may be yanked out and replaced with the second knot. The other package is a new aftershave that I got myself for Christmas. As I put it on my list for my birthday back in November. And it did not materialize. Upon inspection of said package. My wife says, "that box is identical to one of the things I ordered for you for Christmas". My retort being that the statute of limitations had run on that list.
Got my presents for her wrapped. Now just have to wait and see if I have two bottles of the same aftershave.

Christmas Eve Shave

Good day today. Ran a few errands with the ‘Ol lady. Made up a pot of chili. Now just chilling out for a bit before I turn in.
Gathered together some of my favorite items to use with my Model 86’s first run.

My original thoughts of the Oumo boar knots were of course, spot on. With just a 30 minute soak after one test lather. This brush is in a different league than the other knot purchased from elsewhere. It’s a winner. So much so the brass editions knot was removed with extreme prejudice. And the other Oumo boar knot is curing as this is being written. If any of you like “scritchy” boar knots let me know and the un-used matching knot, is yours.
I’m off to bed. Lest my coal not be delivered.

Hectic beginning to the day yesterday. But relaxing afternoon and evening. Capped off with a nice shave with a new soap and aftershave combo.
First use of the MacDuff brand of soap. It's a very nice croap. Nice scent strength. And good performance in all the ways that we like. The aftershave is an old school scent that is right in my wheelhouse. I'm terrible at description of scent profiles. This is to me. A musk and spice combination. With a nice strength and silage for an aftershave. You think maybe a bay rum vibe might be in there because of the use of "Navy" in the label. But that is not in there. I like it and it will certainly see use in the rotation. And I already have a backup bottle cause I didn't think it was going to be under the tree.
The Suck that was 2021 is on it's way out. And good riddance.

Christmas Present soap. First use has me thinking that it is good enough to put in the rotation but not “Wow’d”. Not heavily scented. But a Nice scent. Got some stuff done today. Went to the Home Depot. Wife picked out some new porch lights for the hacienda. Threw them on when we got home. Baked some bread. And in a bit going to have some Homemade Chili for dinner.

This was the first run with the Oumo knot in the Brass handle. This knot is just as good as the other one I put in the Model 86. Zero complaints on the purchase of the two boar knots.
Looking forward to the two horse hair knots and the black badger knot I have on the way from Oumo.
Made a new and larger plate. So I have more room to hang the additional brushes.
