Shave Quality
The Tech Hive produced a decent lather today. The shave was decent. I get better results from the 1940's style Super Speed, but I really want to like the Flare Tip. I am BBS-ish from two passes. There was little alum feedback. Overall it was a really good shave, it just wasn't as comfortable as it could have been.

Gear
The CBL soap just won't die. I am loading for a good 45 seconds. I often will stop and scrape the brush against my lather bowl so that there is room when I go back to the bowl to lather more. Today I had enough proto-lather that I could have just shaved with it and had enough to complete two passes. I have been doing this for several days. Despite this the CBL puck is still quite large. This 3017 could take until March, or longer, to complete.

I have to admit that the Avon Deep Woods is just an okay aftershave. It feels like there is good skin conditioning in it. I just am not too crazy about the scent. This one might end up on the PIF pile.

Other Thoughts
Back to work after a three day weekend. Boo. At least it has been a quiet morning so far.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Shave Quality
The Krona gave me a decent shave today. I will call is DFS+ since there are a couple of hints of stubble still there, just shy of BBS territory. The lather was good. There was little alum feedback. The post-shave routine left me feeling great.

Gear
I pried the CBL Tonsorial puck out of the Old Spice mug. It is actually about half gone. It just doesn't look like it from the top down.

Yaqi's badger brushes are really good. The knots aren't shedding at all.

Oh, and Clubman SR is fabulous juice. It is my favorite Pinaud product so far.

I have decided to use a Treet Black Carbon for this February's "One Blade Challenge." I wonder how long I can make it last and if my DE hones can keep it shaving decently.

Other Thoughts
It is looking like my trips will be really limited this year. I won't have many, but they should be good.

Overview
Feeling kinda '70s today.

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
The lather could have been better today. I haven't bloomed the puck in a couple of days. I think today it had dried out. It was thinner and lighter than it has been recently. I will have to hydrate the puck more. The shave was still really good. The 99R made quick work of my stubble, but there was a fair amount of blade feel. Overall is am as close to BBS as I usually get. The Royal Copenhagen was a nice finish to the shave.

Gear
The 99R + Baili Super Blue was kind of an aggressive combination. There was blade feel. Going too steep caused some tugging. There was some blade chatter. However, when the angle was right the shave was very efficient and smooth. I didn't need to do quite as much blade buffing today. This combination has the possibility of a rough shave, but gave me really good results today.

I haven't used my Royal Copenhagen in quite a while. It had been long enough that I had forgotten how good and how potent the scent is. It is very much a product of 1970. I am feeling like a throwback today. This is a fabulous cologne-y scent. Definitely worth a try.

Other Thoughts
I have recently given up drinking coffee during the work week. I was drinking too much half and half. I did not give up caffeine, since I switched to tea. I think this is helping me do keto better. There is an added benefit also. I had forgotten how much I love tea. There is such a wide variety of flavors. Good stuff.

Every Friday should be a Clubman day.

Shave Quality
The lather was really good this morning, but it was a straight razor lather. It was slick and protective, but on the thin side. I just don't get the rich thick lathers with a badger that I get with a synthetic. Still, it was a low irritation shave. The Futur clone with the Baili blade did good things on my face. I am BBS and feeling good.

Gear
My vintage Made Rite has a great handle and is really, really soft. It splays out the easiest of all my badgers. I hope that the knot lasts for a few years. It is a great brush.

Mmmmmmmm, Clubman! It really is one of the best Fougères ever.

Other Thoughts
Need more sleep...

Clubman is great stuff for sure. I haven't used my Ming Shi in ages. It's a decent shaver.
I hadn't used mine in a long time either. I am glad that I pulled it out today. It is definitely going to get used during the "One Blade in February" challenge.

Shave Quality
Fantastic lather from the WCS Silvertip today. The lather gave me two passes of smooth and easy shaving. I wanted to go for three, but decided not to even though I had a good 6 passes worth of lather. The shave ended with me BBS- or so. I can't complain.

Gear
This WCS Silvertip has a truly excellent knot. I am not sure where WCS sourced it, but I definitely like it. The Brad Sears "Yokozuna" that I got from @Dagwoodz is better, but by a matter of a few degrees. The Yaqi HMW is about on par. You don't have to pay big bucks to get an outstanding badger brush, but there is a quality difference even if only a small one.

Modern Old Spice is good stuff. I really can't complain about it. I smell great today! It is no AV Ice Blue, but it is really good stuff. There is absolutely nothing wrong with OTC aftershave.

Other Thoughts
My plans for today fell through, so I am at the cigar shop. As far as backup plans go, this was a good one.

The lather was good and the Hawk got me efficiently to BBS. Really good stuff today, finishing with some Fine AB. Feeling good and smelling good.

Gear
The Hawk can give a good shave, but it does require some attention.

The Fine AB is excellent juice.

Other Thoughts
Decanted my AV Ice Blue into the glass bottle today. Yay!

Another Monday...

Shave Quality
The shave left me with a couple of areas of irritation, but is overall a really good shave. The R1818 produced great lather. The Baili blade was really smooth today. I am calling it BBS in two passes. My face isn't glass smooth, but it is really clean and soft. No complaints here.

Gear
The RazoRock Mr. Pink is okay stuff. Not my favorite. There are much better aftershaves out there.

The RazoRock Mission is a good razor. It is all pot metal, but it shaves well. Like many of Italian Barber's products it is a good value for the money. It does have a large-ish blade gap, however.

Other Thoughts
Decanting my AV Ice Blue into the bottle that @Dave in KY PIFed me was easier than I expected. This has me wanting to move all of my aftershaves into glass if they aren't already.

The Holy Rosary has been on my mind for the past week or more. So, I have started reading The Secret of the Rosary by St. Louis de Monfort. It is an interesting book.

Love the smell of TOBS Sandalwood.

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
The shave was a little rough today. The lather was great, but the V3A still decided to beat me up a bit. My face is smooth and clean. We will see how long the irritation lasts. The TOBS Sandalwood made a good end to it, however.

Gear
I wish the TOBS Sandalwood Herbal soap had worked better for me. The matching AS splash is wonderful stuff. I really love all the variations on sandalwood that are out there.

The V3A is an okay razor. I may need to get a different handle for it to change the balance. Perhaps it will shave better then.

Other Thoughts
Meeting a friend for cigars tonight. I am really looking forward to that.
