Overview
Wanted to try a boar against the CBL.

Shave Quality
I have been trying to load heavier to try and get better results. Today I loaded for like 45 seconds and got a ton of soap. This whipped up into a really thick and creamy lather, which was really enjoyable. The Baby Smooth did its two passes worth of work, which landed me a BBS-ish shave. There is little in the way of post-shave irritation, which is always a very nice thing.

Gear
The SOC boar is really nice now that it is well broken in. It is about as soft on my face as several of the badgers which I have been using lately. It also whipped up a stellar lather. This is still one of the top boar brushes in existence.

The CBL is still drier on my face than I would really like. I need to add more water, but then I am going to slop suds all over the place as I build the lather. Even if it is a bit too dry, it is giving me top notch results.

I really like the Barbasol Pacific Rush, but I wish that the scent had more staying power. It is gone by the time I get to work.

Other Thoughts
I should have stayed home and played Breath of the Wild last night. I would have had a better evening. Oh, well.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

A better shave with more water

SOTD Pic
None

Shave Quality
A heavy load and lots and lots of water had me slopping lather over the side of the bowl today as I predicted. This made for a wet, thin lather that was really slick. Two passes with the Variant left me nice and smooth. I am a very happy boy.

Gear
The Omega is a nice boar. It feels good on the face and it applies the lather well. However, I like the SOC better.

The CBL Tonsorial is definitely better with more water.

Other Thoughts
I really need to get to the Post Office to get a some boxes. I have things to send out.

Happy Saturday

Shave Quality
I was short on time this morning so my shave was a quick one. Two passes got me DFS+ and feeling good. Had to add some more water for the second pass, but I came away with very little irritation. It was a great start to my Saturday.

Gear
The Parker Variant is a solid winner for me. I love the way it shaves.

Semogue definitely makes a better boar than Omega. Omegas are good, Semogues are better IMO.

Other Thoughts
Enjoying another Saturday afternoon at the cigar shop.

A fast Sunday shave

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
Two quick passes and I was DFS+ for the day. Great lather that let the razor skate across my face. Very little irritation afterwards.

Gear
The horse brush was a little prickly on my face, but made an excellent lather.

No complaints here.

Other Thoughts
Saw 1917 today. It was an intense experience. Very realistic. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with PTSD.

Overview
Mondays suck, but Monday shaves are really nice.

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
The lather was thin and slick, but had a decent amount of cushion. The Shark blade is nicely broken in at this point. This all made for a fabulous two passes. I wish I could have taken more time with it.

Gear
The Brad Sears is a good great phenomenal brush, perhaps almost certainly the best one in my den. I am more of a synthetic guy, but I am trying to give more of the brushes in my den some love, especially the badgers. This one is more of a face lather brush, but it does well with a bowl. This brush convinced me to up my badger game. I haven't gone completely high-end yet, but the 3 Silvertips that I recently purchased are a result of this brush impressing me. I hope that @Dagwoodz is well, and that he comes back to the Cadre some day soon. This brush was one of the best parts of his Mega PIF from the end of 2018.

Other Thoughts
Some days I wish I weren't such a night owl.

Doh, does that mean even when you know you need to wake up early you stay up late having fun?

A smooth Tuesday shave

SOTD Pic
None

Shave Quality
The shave would have been almost perfect but for the tiny nick I got on my chin. It was just a small thing, but it was a bleeder. The rest of the shave was smooth sailing with the DOC. The Fine brush made a really great lather. The DOC Ascension is really efficient on my face. The Crown blade paired well with it.

Gear
The Fine Stout is a nice brush. The knot is plenty soft and it feels good in my hand.

Other Thoughts
So, last night was a thing. I got rear-ended on the way home. My car is fine. There were no injuries. But, that is about two hours of my life that I won't get back. It was stop-and-go traffic so it was a low-speed impact. I was the front car of the three car chain reaction.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Got lucky with that non fender bender being only 2 hrs. A little scratch here and there and it could consume days!

I'm sorry to hear about the accident, but glad that there were no injuries or damage to your ride.

I've been in one of those accidents as front car before. Scariest part was the back vehicle was a semi and I saw it coming. No injuries in that one but my car did end up with a ding in the bumper. Glad you came out ok

Accidents like that really stink. Someone did that to me on the way home from work a couple of years back, no injuries or car damage. Some folks just drive too fast, even in bumper to bumper conditions.

Overview
A badger funky morning.

SOTD Pic
None

Shave Quality
It is really, really dry out here in Colorado right now and I think it is affecting my shaves. Today's shave seemed to have enough water, but my face is feeling tight afterwards. My face is BBS smooth, but even with all the post-shave stuff I use my skin feels dry. My eczema acting up could have something to do with it too. Overall, it was a good shave though. Hmm... It just occurred to me that I am breaking in a new badger and the funk was real. That could have something to do with it.

Gear
The PAA DOC Ascension + Crown isn't too bad. Together they made quick work of my whiskers today.

The 24mm Yaqi Two Band is good. The knot isn't as soft as the R1818 HMW, but that is to be expected. I think it will break in nicely. However, the funk was intense even having shampooed the knot once. I think I need to start shampooing them twice.

Other Thoughts
Having a week...

Do you put moisturizer on your face more often than just post shave? Sitting here with dry lips at the moment and just as think in dry weather we moisturizer lips and hands a lot. The face could probably use it if you're going to scrape it with a sharp blade every day.
