Another great shave Josh and I remember that nasty little toe on my Black Diamond. Congrats on your new "Title". Can I have your autograph when you're done with the paparazzi ??

Thanks Dave! I'm not even sure if it was the point that got me...meh. It closed up quick is all that matters. LOL IRT the custom title.

That soap looks like it really whipped up into a nice lather really easy and seems like it applies to the face much the same...creamy and easy! Also, very high marks for a Vegan soap!

One question? Why do you assign stability only five points, while the other categories get a max of 10 points? I am assuming because in your grades that are for yourself you include Strength of Scent and assign that five points as well. But just curious why all categories don't get 10 points. Thanks again Josh!

So when I grade beyond performance, the only other two measures are scent preference and value per oz. Because scent is so important to me, that gets scored out of 20, while value is scored 1-10, with 10 being best value. (think Arko...Stirling gets a 9, Soap Commander an 8.) If a soap is at $3 an oz, it gets scored a 7.

Stability could be scored out of 10, but honestly, a soap is either completely unstable (a zero) a little stable (1) marginally stable (2), managably stable (3), pretty stable (4) or completely stable (5). I could extrapolate that to a 10 point system, but they're all graded on the same scale, so the effect is essentially the same. It boils down to how important that quality is to me, and that is the least important after the other qualities. Of course, if the lather disappears, it's going to affect the other scores such as lathering and cushion, so an unstable soap will also lose points in those categories.

Thanks for explaining Josh! You really do have a great system!

One thing I didn't address is strength of scent.

So this is one of those things that, in my mind, can't really be measured and used to grade a soap. Some soaps, due to their nature cannot have a strong SoS, otherwise it would be too cloying or overpowering, so the ideal SoS would be around a 2 or 3. But others need to be a 5/5.

Two soaps that immediately come to mind are Wholly Kaw's Tempest and King of Oud. Tempest comes in at a 2/5 once lathered at the highest...that's being generous. While King of Oud comes in at a solid 4.5-5/5. If Tempest were any stronger, it wouldn't evoke the same emotional response as it does being where its at. While King of Oud, due to its nature of being a strong, woody scent with some strong vanilla undertones, is very comfortable and non-cloying at a 5/5.

Basically, a SoS of 5/5 or 10/10 isn't going to necessarily be a good thing for some soaps, so I don't include it in the metrics.

Good review Josh!

I’m starting to wish I didn’t have their Club Cola as my baseline experience of them lol...

Rose isn’t quite my thing, but a winner all the same!

Josh another great video. I was waiting for the door to get kicked in with those sirens LOL.

Hope you can relax a little this weekend.

Good stuff again Josh! Really can't complain with the shaving and face feel with Noble Otter. I myself found BarrBarr wuite a bit on the sweet side. Glad you got around to reviewing these!

Good shave and eval of the new Honeybee!

DAMN son! That’s a pocket knife! What was that utilitarian beauty?

Stay safe out there man. I’ll be praying for ya.

Like you, I’m surprised to hear when people get pretty good performance form a glycerin soap. Looking on the website, it’s apparent what most of the scents should be, but I do wish there was a description of each on the site.

Good video Josh!

That Ali’s blade is a nicking ninja! I’m way too young in my skills to handle something like that, kudos!

I thought I saw it catch but it didn't bleed right away so I wasn't sure. Then you saw the blood and confirmed it. I left a point like that on my razor and it gets me all the time too. Those Jnat edges are so wicked sharp you don't even realize you did it until later.

That is a sweet looking razor though!
