I'm a nurse, and I have to say that the author of the piece did a GREAT job of making that understandable. I just couldn't figure out how the toes were being affected by this virus.
If this hypothesis proves to be fact it should REALLY help with a possible vaccine. Thanks for sharing it. I posted it to FakeBook, I'm sure some of my friends who don't agree with me politically will either not read it or just dismiss it. We've just become SO GOOD at being dismissive lately. Like science can't be legitimate if you vote a certain way! (Sorry, end of rant.)

Science is understanding how everything works, the quest for knowledge, which is always good. The problem is when fake science is created purely for political purposes.

Science = good

Politicians = seldom worthy of trust

Science is also about not becoming so emotionally invested in an idea or ideology you fail to acknowledge when the data no longer supports it. What may have been science “fact” yesterday can be declared absolutely wrong today ...and a scientist will celebrate the discovery that caused yesterday’s fact to become wrong.
Science is not proud or stubborn.

I trained as a scientist, and would quibble with that a bit. The fields are as captive to egos and agendas as other careers, and if big name people dig in, it can take awhile for facts to win out. Since they are empirical, facts usually do win.

FUNDING. too often fact and funding are too closely interdependent.
But you are not incorrect, the fields ...the people, are still full of ego that must be overcome by process and data.
 
A facinating look at the difference between the ideal of the Scientific Method and the way things actually work in societies can be found in The Structure of Scientific Revolutions by Thomas Kuhn. It's a fascinating book, and a sociology classic.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Sturgis rally and the rising Covid cases in the area, officials did not cancel the 2020 South Dakota State Fair, which reported an attendance of 205,000 people last year. The fair ran from last Thursday through Labor Day.
 
School has been in session for 4 weeks, and the state of Utah has 130 football games happening every week. NOT one student in my kids school has tested positive. And that is even with random 15 min quick tests. And NOT one referee has tested positive. I talk to a LOT of coaches, principals, teachers, and athletic directors. I think a MAJORITY are following the rules. The media just shows the few negatives like we saw when that district in GA went back to school. That is NOT the norm everywhere. The kids are distanicing, they are following the rules because they want to be in school! It's our politicians that can't follow the rules but would rather make the rules to have people follow them. Case and point with our speaker of the house. People on both sides of the spectrum are wrong, some are taking it way to seriously and trying to control others, and others are pretending it doesn't exist and spreading the disease unknowingly. I feel the answer is pretty simple but yet most won't adopt this because they have vitriol for the other side, and that simple solution is this mindset:

The virus exists. It is deadly. Take it seriously. With proper hygiene, wearing of masks, and social distancing when necessary we can ride this thing out. This is not NORMAL! The goal is NOT to accept a new normal but rather to get us BACK TO NORMAL!
