My father has one of the forms of hepatitis from when he was a baby he is a carrier but he was told that even though his blood wouldn't be usable that he could still go through the process and he would still get a free antibodies test.

Don't see the point myself of the testing if I have no symptoms AND I'm taking proper precautions as we are instructed. I could be negative only to leave the testing sight to catch it on the way home. I'm more interested in an anitbody test to see if I had it and recovered but that isn't offered or easy to know how to get as far as I know..........

Kind of a conundrum isn’t it... even if you had a reason to be tested (whatever your reasoning) those results are only a snapshot in time. Your status can change between the time you submit for testing and the time the results are returned (assuming you don’t get the 20 min results)

First. Y2K was ALWAYS a non-event. Computers did not cease to work

I was the sole computer technician at an organization with 250 PCs. Y2K was a non-event because I spent 6 80-hour weeks updating the firmware and Operating Systems of each and every one. Those computers did not cease to work because of me.

I was a Project Mgr for a large Candian Bank on the Y2k project. Oodles of hours spent getting things up to par, not because of dangers of planes falling out of the sky, but of making a seemless transition to Jan.01.2000. The banks had already experienced Y2K in Canada back on Jan.01.1970 when date codes were just 2-digits and 30-year mortgages signed in 1969 were now immediately flagged as 70 years in arrears and foreclosure processes were flagged by the system. Not pretty, nobody died as a result, but VERY bad for customer relations.

That’s true, but when did you become aware the year 2000 was coming and that the original programming would create problems (some large, some small). I think my point was that the broader population didn’t understand that, as complex and pervasive as computers had become, people were able to identify potential failure points and repair/reprogram long before the crisis event ever real threat. Even then we still devoted a lot of resources to being ‘over prepared’, which allowed us to also prepare for other events where computers or digital might not be an option. ...to be honest, I think we could use similar preparations now. Working in finance/stock market I see a high reliance on very high tech. We were able to seamlessly shut down the physically stock exchange and go 100% digital when COVID19 forced the need (a really cool thing) but I think we lost the benefit of eye-to-eye and other unspoken features that can only be seen/read on faces.

As far as COVID19 goes, I think we will see a similarity to Y2K. The general population won’t understand the medical, epidemiological, economic, etc complexity’s (individually or combined) and will instead resort to one of two things, assigning no importance to the event or assigning it all the importance and fear possible. Meanwhile the professionals in the respective industries will be working diligently to lead us through this crisis as quickly and safely as scientifically possible.

Well big news on the football front yesterday with some conferences going to conference only football. Still no clear answer on the stands. Yesterday the Utah High School Athletic Association stated that as of now fall sports will happen. Schools have been allowed to practice for about 3 weeks now, and we are already seeing positive cases from these practices. And from an officials stand point I don't think a lot of officials are going to officiate even if there are teams that are going to play. As this all continues to go on I personally am just getting more frustrated. Just thankful everyday that goes by that we have been cautious and safe! And thus far it seems to have worked. Stay healthy cadre.

Hey everybody we're safe they've actually got a vaccine now. One of my customers today has this young helper behind the counter at a tractor store that thinks he knows everything and said the coronavirus has been around since the 40s and they just need to let it run its course and open things up. I tried to reason with him a little bit as did the manager that was standing there and explain the difference in strains. He said you can't tell me the owner was just in recently and showed me an actual vaccine for his horse and it said coronavirus on it. Right there on it he said. I realized he was a lost hope and told him that he should not be behind that counter with information like that he needs to get in touch with the CDC immediately as they are way behind the curve compared to him.
I can't use any names to tell you what I think of his intelligence here so I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Be careful out there everybody, they walk among us.

I couldn't agree more.. I went into one of the local businesses to get needed supplies and they had the sign on the door that said by ordinance mask are required of all customers and employees to enter which to me was fine as I wear one constantly when I'm out .. Well I go into the business and there are plenty of customers inside with NO Mask !!!!! I look at the employees and Not A Single One had on a mask either....I was very nice as I didn't freak out and tell them they were all crazy .....and then the conspiracy nuts claim its all fake !!!!! I think this video explains about mask very well and I love it..... I hope I am not breaking any of the media rules by posting this link.. I read it but still don't know if this is okay...If its not then I apologize and please remove the video..
