Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Well I was voluntold to be the parent in charge of it! Oh boy! So now I am in charge of a holiday party when Halloween is not my cup of tea. I am not a big fan of Halloween, mainly the whole dressing up thing. Well I have no choice now!
I can't get worked up for Halloween either. Maybe your dress up theme could be Christmas ?

Sounds like a whirlwind morning! Glad you were able to get out and still get the good shave and BBS.

My younger children’s elementary school is the same way for volunteering, basically every non essential and extracurricular program or function is all volunteer run. Teachers aids in regular classes throughout the week are all parent volunteers, any drives, field trip transportation or chaperones, etc. The PTA is like a stinking mob ring lol. They have developed an insane culture of parental involvement and support, which is really great on some levels, but just psycho on others. The school raised over $90k this year for their annual jog-a-thon! I mean WTH!

Yea the school does a big auction each year that is where a majority of their money comes from. Also they get a healthy amount from smile.amazon which is a great program. Some parents do more than others which I am sure is typical. But I guess it's good to be involved.

Nice shave Chad, I have 2 Kai blades that I need to try at some point. Never used but hear good things about them.

The first run with this blade was a little rough, but it is settling in nicely. Thanks for reading.

Hey!

Razor: Razorock SLOC
Blade: Kai (3)
Soap/cream: Razorock Stallion
Brush: Stirling Finest
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Razorock Stallion

Well another nice shave today continuing with the SLOC. The Kai blade has really smoothed out and is providing great shaves! The first shave was rough but #2 and #3 have been great. The Stallion is a nice straight up Oud scent and I dig it in the cooler weather. With the rain we are getting this was the perfect soap for today. I am totally digging it.

Well was up a little late last night. Couldn't get to sleep so was just snooping around the forum, also watching the collapse of the Jazz. Just have to remember it is an 82 game season. I also peeled back the 2018 - 2019 basketball rule book to start the mind shift a test is coming up in a couple of weeks. Anyways nothing crazy to report. Hope you all have a great day!

Nice read Chad. Must be the moon phase, I didn't sleep so hot either and it waa another early rise.....

Ah the moon. Definitely some theories there! It can bring out the crazies. Thankfully once I got to sleep I slept good that is until that blasted alarm went off!

Curious to see how long you keep that Kai blade going. Personally I think they are super sharp. Maybe not Feather sharp...but close. I also think they are a tad smoother than Feathers.

Mmm Stallion is good aftershave juice!

Hope the day is off and running solid!

Thanks Chris. So far so good!

The first shave reminded me of the roughness of a feather. But now it is nice and smooth! I will for sure get my week's worth of shaves on it. Which is 6. But if I feel it can go longer perhaps I will give it a go,

Razor: Razorock SLOC
Blade: Kai (4)
Soap/cream: Razorock Blue Fougere
Brush: TSC Legacy Brush
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Razorock Blue Fougere

Well what a shave. I personally really like the special release Blue Fougere. You get way to much of this soap though. I took like 8 oz and pushed it into a jar and the last 4 oz I sent to KJ as a PIF. Not sure if he still has it or if someone else around her does, but I remember KJ saying he didn't like the scent. Personally I really like it. The shave went well until doing clean up. As I unscrewed the razor the blade was kind of stuck and then when it came free it shot like a spring and hit the sink then the floor. I picked it up and in the bin it went. Can't trust a blade that went through that. Oh well 4 solid shaves with the Kai that after each shave got progressively better.

Homefront:

Alright I am going to toot my own horn here for a minute. So we received notification that game assignments would go out last night around 9PM due to some play in games for the playoffs happening yesterday. We were also told to accept the game by 11PM or else we run the risk of losing the game. So 9PM rolls around and nothing. 9:15 nothing, 9:45 nothing. So I head into the bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready for bed. During that time was texting some of my official buddies and non ne had gotten a game yet. But at this time I just figured well this was my first year working a full varsity schedule so it is what it is, I got better and next year will be even better. A harsh reality too believe the season is over. 10:05pm the notification came in and a message from my Union Rep. I got a game! 6A and it is the favorite to win the whole thing! I am beyond stoked. The message from the union rep was simple, "Chad you worked hard this year and you deserve to at least work one playoff game. Most officials have to wait until year 5 or 7 to get a playoff game. This is your 3rd year and we can't keep you off the field. Good luck!" I am beyond excited. I couldn't get to sleep last night, I stayed up and just watched film then finally fell asleep around 2AM. I can't wait for Friday!

Dud that is awesome! Super stoked for you! Sorry the blade did a spring like that...but it's just a blade after all. Anyway...looking forward to your assessment of the playoff game you are officiating!

Glad the blade had a “safe” flight before it’s binning, that could have been much worse!

Huge Congrats on scoring a playoff game! You do deserve it!

I don't trust compromised blades either. Good call and you also got a GREAT call ! Chad, we all know how hard you've worked this year but to hear it from the higher ups is SO gratifying and confirming. Couldn't be happier for you!!!

Thanks Don. I am looking forward to it. And the game is in the early afternoon so I shouldn't miss any of the Ute Game Friday Night!

Oh it could have gone bad. Habit would be to try and catch it. And thank you.

Congrats on the playoff game--feels good when hard work pays off!

Thank you. I am very excited.
