Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Vargomanure just doesn't have the same ring to it as Samanure, does it?

BTW you're building great memories with the young'uns, Chad. 🥇

Some amazing pictures and family time - it's a dream of mine to take our kids on an RV trip out West when they're a little older.

Guide Along sounds like an app we found for Hawaii called Shaka Guide which offered the same thing for the various driving tours on the islands. It's super nice and adds a lot to the drive!
Do the trip! Plan it and make it work. Buying the motorhome with where we live has been one of the best things we have done. We love getting outside.
This all sounds like fun.....and I've always wanted to do a road trip....but my wife hates anything outdoorsy and won't sleep anywhere that doesn't have room service.
Fly to Jackson Hole, drive 40 miles to Jackson Lake Lodge, and get the best of both worlds.

Thanks Sam.

Day 8 of our trip. This will be one post.

Plan leave Grand Teton and end at Wasatch Mountain State Park In Utah For Megan's family reunion. We opted for a route that adds maybe 30 miles but is all back road old highways and along the snake river for most of the way. We did this because it avoids the big interstates through Wyoming. Mainly because we want a nicer view and Wyoming is known for really bad winds. High wind and motorhome don't mix well. Makes for a very tiring drive.

We wake up and get on the road. Total drive time saying 6 to 7 hours. But we will stop to feed baby. And we want to make it to Evanston Wyoming to have lunch and re stock our food in the motorhome.

As we leave the campground and just near the Grand Teton. Border we see a momma moose and her baby. Pics are so so. Sorry.

We filled up gas in Jackson Wyoming, amd a small stop in another small town to feed the baby. And then continued through the canyon. We had to stop at the top for pictures. Also with how wet the spring was the mountains are full of Thea beautiful yellow flowers. The view is spectacular.

As you can see the storm clouds we did get rained on a good portion of this drive. We made to Evanston wtihout any issues. And on time. We filled up the gas tank, found a grocery store, ate at a costa Vida, and I even found a liquor store an picked up a few things I can't find in Utah.

The next stretch which is i-80 headed towards Park City and then get to hwy 40 which takes us to our campground. That interstate had wind gusts in the 40s, and what should've been an hour turned into 2. This canyon was sketchy with the high winds. Lots of bigger semis pulled off to wait it out. Smaller ones where going 55mph, and I just got behind one and went roughly 55, and held on tight to the steering wheel. Once to hwy 40 it smoothed out and the wind turned into a headwind so bye bye mpg. We made it to the state park. And my mom drove up to drop of our dog. Since we are only 90 min from home. You can bring a dog to Yellowstone but you are very limited in what you can do. So we left her home. The kids where happy to see her and it was time to relax with a beer, whiskey, and cigar.

Day 9 and 10 of our trip.

This is the last post as I am combining the last two days.

So the Saturday.

So it's a lot warmer here, and thankfully as we are nearing the end of our trip we have electric hookups so we are able to use the air conditioner to be able to get out of the heat at times. One of the things I love about camping is waking up early and just going for a walk. Now I did sleep in a tiny bit but the sun is up and it's still cool.

The rest of the day was just spending time with the extended family. Getting the kids together with their cousins and just sitting around. Fishing, roasting mallows, drinking bourbon, and I did enjoy a pipe sorry no Pic.

One of thr things I love about state parks is how relaxing they can be. And small activities for kids and families. One of the highlights all the kids loved was one of the Rangers came to our group sites and presented the kids a barn own they rescued who sadly can't fly after an injury. I didn't get any pics as the phone was in the motorhome when they stopped by.

Any way the next day it was up and time to get the motorhome ready for travel. We needed to empty and clean tanks as we are headed home. We have 90 min. As we were all saying our goodbyes a beautiful bird flew overhead.

Well that concludes the Vargo Family Road Trip. We have a few other small excursions coming this summer, but nothing near as epic.

Loved our trip and the memories made with my family. Arguably the best vacation I've ever been on.

Until next time.

Two posts here!

Well we had another adventure for a quick get away to try and escape the heat. It was 105 to 107 back home. And we escaped to Palisade State Park where it was a brisk 100. But we had the lake, cold beer, and family so a good time was had.

The next day we woke up and the kids were ready... At 7am!

We stayed late and drove home late. We were getting tired. Thankfully only a 2.5 hour drive home. So no biggie to leave at 5pm after a storm rolled through even

And this why I make memories

Loaded up ready to roll. Think we wore them out... Well almost

Peace out all.

Bummer that the temps weren't cooler up there. Glad you got to have some fun with the kiddos and the wife.

The high pressure system that settled over Utah was brutal! We were even at 6200 ft. And registered 100. The ranger at the state park said it was hottest at that location ever on record. I guess we needed to go higher.

Shaves are going well. Current soap has maybe 2 shaves left. But more important the seasons are changing. The days are getting shorter and that means one thing... Football.

Tonight I'm working the first high school game of the season as it's Endowment week. The coach of the visiting team and I have history. Should be a fun game. 7pm MT. Pleasant Grove @ Farmington

Well back at the 3017 as I picked my next soap. I grabbed out Mickey Lee Soapworks The Kraken! I love this soap and scent.

After my shave I did a bit of research as this is my last puck of this great scent and what do I see? They closed shop a few years back! Geez I do not remember this news hitting our site... maybe I missed it?

I really enjoy this soap base and performance. My two favorite scents are The Kraken and The Drunken Goat. Sadly another soap business that did not survive the market flooding with good soaps.

Oh well I shall enjoy it while it lasts.

Looks like you have been doing well, Chad......And I had not heard about Mickey Lee Soaps going out - too bad; the Kraken was great!
