Chad Uses BAD blades!

I ‘m interested to hear your take on the Sharks. They were the second blade I ever used. At the time I had heard some good things about them. I ‘ve heard nothing but bad since....

My son loves that song LOL

Also I made some updates to the first post. Includes a list of what blades I have on hand since a bunch of have been sent to me.

Volume 10 Shark Chrome Use 1

Well today I used the notorious Shark Chrome blade. Upon reading reviews you either love this blade or hate it. First here's what I know.

This blade is made by the Company Lord in Egypt. These blades claim to be Stainless Steel with a polymer coating for smoothness and longevity.

The Pricing is all over the map though.

Maggards $16
ItalianBarber $15
eBay $15
WCS $17
Amazon $6.99 however I think this is a sale price. Looking at average price on Amazon it is $9.99. So I am going with that. Which means 10 cents per blade. Not horrible at all.

So the shave. Well this blade lacks sharpness, but it is actually smooth. I did get one nic and some neck irritation which I would attribute to the lack of sharpness. Like a chef says your knife needs to be sharp!

Here's the video

Have a great Day Cadre!

Thanks Chad. I always assumed all the controversy over Shark blades were with the Stainless version. Those things were death traps for me. I bought one of my first shavettes and it came with sharks that were already cut in half. Worst blade I ever put in a shavette.

That said, you should definitely use the Stainless sharks next, if for no other raosn to do a direct comparison with the ones you just used. Keep the branded bladed together for that reason in the future.

Volume 11 Shark Chrome Use 2

Well it is a late entry but I did shave this morning after waking up. The Shark Chrome blade did mellow out in feel, but to be honest still just not that sharp. I actually felt like for a brief moment I didn't even have a blade in the razor. But after 3.5 passes the shave was pretty decent. So to be honest I think if someone has slow growth or new to wetshaving perhaps this blade would work for a little bit.

Here is the final rating

****RATING SYSTEM****
TRASH: Can't get a good shave. This blade is horrible. Never use again.
BAD: A bad blade but technically still got a serviceable shave, but have no desire to use the blade again.
GOOD: It was good enough that if I have another blade I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
100PACK: This blade was good enough to warrant stocking up!

**** Blades Used ****
1. Muhle Rating = Bad
2.Van Der Hagen Rating = Good
3. Graham Field Rating = Trash
4. Super Homex Rating = Bad
5. Shark Super Chrome = Bad

Tomorrow I will record and am going to use the Shark Stainless Steel blade. Reviews on those is all over the board too, some say better than the chrome and some say worse. I did read a few reviews saying it is more aggressive. Interesting for sure.

Volume 12 Shark SS Use 1

Well I grabbed the other Shark blade with very low expectations, after the Chrome blade failed to deliver.

I was pleasantly surprised actually in the video I stated best shave so far in this series. It is like they made a good thing worse by adding the chrome.

Anyways like the Chrome this blade is made in Egypt, also by the Lord company.

Pricing was again all over the map currently at Amazon $6.88 per 100, pretty sure not a sale price but averaged through out the year around $9.99.
$11.99 at Italian Barber. $16.50 at Maggards and WCS.

Anyways here is the video

Volume 13 Shark SS Use 2

Well i skipped the sunday shave. More on that in my journal later. But this was use two with this blade in Timeless this is another great test for this blade and I must say it has passed once again! Tomorrow it will definitely be used in the Variant.

This is a good blade and we might end up with our first 100 PACK rating. Tomorrow will tell the tale. But so far I think this blade is at least guaranteed a Good rating.

Sorry for the short entry but running behind this morning, but wanted to at least get the status update in here.

So SS Good/Chrome Bad. Good to know.
\n\nI have a feeling there is a quality consistency issue with these, as wide as the reviews are. Both versions really. I’d keep them off the 100pk for that reason alone.

Yes I have been contemplating this for sure. I will make the final decision tomorrow.

Volume 14 Shark SS Use 3

Alright well the moment of truth so to speak. The Shark SS was loaded up into the Parker Variant and dialed all the way up.

I can't beat around the bush the shave was wonderful. A very simple and easy BBS. I am however at a loss here. I did some more research and there is a common theme in what I am reading. Shark Chrome very mixed reviews. Shark SS decent reviews and more people tend to like them. I also read a few things where people said SS>Chrome. Well after using them both back to back I agree. The SS is significantly better. I have now gotten 3 BBS shaves in a row, no cuts, no nics, just great shaves.

Here is the video for those interested:

And now the rankings. I must be honest I am bordering on Good vs. 100 Pack. And I give the slight edge to 100 PACK. With one caveat... I get them for under $10 I know it is possible based off of research, so when the price is around $6-$7 this blade is perfectly acceptable and I will probably buy 100 pack.
