Chad Uses BAD blades!

Good to know Chad. My guess the reason someone would make it their blade of chioce is no other availablity and ignorance of the market out there.. and I guess ignorance to have access to the internet and buy online.
\n\nI think you’re right on there. Surprisingly there’s still those folks that just don’t look much beyond their local stores for what they need. It’s probably one of those things that is half impulse buy, like “Oh yea, I’m almost out of [insert shaving item here], dang it. Guess I’d better just grab these.”
\n\nThanks for reading guys! \n\nI think you both are right. And it is a shame.

Those have been my go to blades when i fly and don't check a bag for a while now. And for that i agree they serve their purpose very well. Curious to see how it does tomorrow in the variant.

Volume 5 Van Der Hagen Use 3

Alight well today the blade graduated to the Parker Variant and I turned it up! Set it on the highest setting and went to town for the shave! Let me tell you the VDH performed VERY WELL! Was actually surprised. I thought I would have to tone it down after the first pass and I actually kept it at 5 for the whole shave except for buffing at the end.

The final rating on this soap is going to be GOOD. Here are the ratings again for reference.

****RATING SYSTEM****
TRASH: Can't get a good shave. This blade is horrible. Never use again.
BAD: A bad blade but technically still got a serviceable shave, but have no desire to use the blade again.
GOOD: It was good enough that if I have another blade I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
100PACK: This blade was good enough to warrant stocking up!

The biggest flaw for this blade is the price most definitely. But it also wasn't quite as keen as some of my favorite blades. I am happy to say that this blade will be used in the future if I am traveling but I don't recommend stocking up on this blade. The price is too outrageous.

And you live to shave another day! This reminds me of an experiment I was a part of over at the other place. The $1 razor challenge. Someone found a DE with 5 blades at Dollar Tree. It started with 12 of us trying it out, mainly just to see how long it lasted until the razor broke lol! Mine only lasted one shave before it started to rust and about 6 before the first door (it was a TTO) fell off. I think I still have the blades if you want to add them to your list here.

Oh I remember that challenge. It was a good read. I'm willing to try any torture device... I mean blade lol

I am doing some research preparing for future videos.

First of all I fear for my life now for tomorrow's shave with the Graham Field Blade.

Second does anyone have any info on the Super Homex blades? I can't find anything on them. Like price for 100, who makes them etc.

Volume 6 Graham Field Use 1

Well KJ sent me this torture device and that is what it is... TORTURE. This blade is so bad. So much tugging and pulling it instantly reminded me of using a Gillette Fusion cartridge blade on its 20th use in the shower. OUCH!

Okay so first let's talk about what I know about this razor.

It is a medical preparation blade, so the intent of this blade is one use on a patient to most likely prepare them for surgery. Well it did remove hair barely. This blade is also made in the USA and many think made by the same people that make Personna Med Prep blades. I didn't like those blades either but they weren't this bad. But honestly I am not the biggest fan of Personna period.

As far as cost goes I found 250 blades for $50.99. So that means 100 costs $20.40. So per blade that is 20 cents. So not as expensive as the previous blades used but still a little high in my opinion.

As to the actual shave I am torn. With extreme caution and patience I did get a serviceable shave. But it was so uncomfortable it would be disservice to not rank this blade low. I would not recommend this to ANYONE who is newer to the hobby meaning less a year of DE shaves. If you are comfortable in your technique and want to see what torture is like, then give it a go. I will be doing a second shave tomorrow with it to stick to my word but then I will NEVER use these blades again.

Final ranking tomorrow.

I am on it!

Research on usless information is my specialty.

I’ve heard awful things about those Graham Field blades. Glad you survived, that means you’ll still be able to try one of these....

Oh guys it was awful. I am trying to be tough but it was really bad! I really don't want to shave with it again tomorrow. But SCIENCE!

\n\nSo a quick rundown .. As you said they are made in Vietnam. They are a spinoff of the Super Max blade. I acutally found two sources of them. The Vietnamese ones are made by the Liyu Razor Company of Ho Chi Minh City. There also seems to be a source out of Hong Kong. I am checking into whether they are a reseller of the Vietnamees ones or submanufacturer. \n\nWhat else do you need to know?

\n\nDo you have any links so I can provide the cost analysis when doing it on video? I also found that they could be a spin off of the Super Max Blade but couldn\'t find anything definitive. Appears you are having better luck than me thus far! Thanks!

On Alibaba these blades can be had for between .06-.25 per blade depending on how many you are looking for.

I hear they were a spin off or knock off of the Super Max but as you can see on thier website they produce all sorts of Max blades.

Ok just heard back from Jiangsu Liyu Razor of China. Their blades are made in China but learning that I also learned the following.

The Vietnamese company is known as Viet Name Li Yu Razor Company Limited.

Liyu razor Vietnam's production company specializing in products razor, medical razor, disposable razor, single blade razor, twin blades, three blades. Products are produced on modern production lines, advanced sterilization technology with production of the parent company JIANGSU Liyu RAZOR.
