Chad Uses BAD blades!

GSB is an all time favorite of mine! Surprised to see that on the list!

Or is that like what Chris posted earlier about a spinoff series "Chad tries all blades?"

With all the blades that have been added you will see some good blades in the list. But hopefully we uncover some hidden gems.

Volume 35 Royal Super Stainless Use 2

Alright first let's add some cost information. Thanks guys for pulling through apparently I was not searching the right way.

Still not on IB, WCS, or Maggards.

Amazon you get 200 blades for $30.99 so .15 per blade
eBay there is a BIN listing you get 100 blades for $19.95 so roughly .20 per blade.

Alright the shave today:

To be honest a lot to be desired. As I was shaving today it still felt smooth, but the results are just less than stellar. Two days in a row of DFS on the cheeks not even BBS, which is usually the easiest spot for me to get BBS. No cuts and no nics which is definitely good but just a lot to be desired.

Sadly this blade is going to get a Bad rating. Looking at the definitions I think you will agree:

****RATING SYSTEM****
TRASH: Can't get a good shave. This blade is horrible. Never use again.
BAD: A bad blade but technically still got a serviceable shave, but have no desire to use the blade again.
GOOD: It was good enough that if I have another blade I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
100PACK: This blade was good enough to warrant stocking up!

Tomorrow a blade will be used that goes for roughly .04 cents a blade! This could be really good or we might have another Graham Field blade on our hands.

Volume 36 Topaz Platinum Use 1

Alright well today is another Bad Blade review day. And on deck is a blade that comes from India made by the company Topaz. This blade has been around awhile and you can find reviews that are pretty old. Not a lot of recent stuff as I think some people have moved on. This blade is not listed at WCS or Italian Barber but can be found at:

Amazon: 50 Blades for $5.60 (.11 per blade), 200 blades for $14 (.07 per blade) These are not sold by Amazon and shipping can take up to 2 weeks
Maggard: 50 blades for $6 (.12 per plade)
eBay: Watch your sellers but they can come in packs of 50, 100, 200, or 1000. They average anywhere from .04 per blade to .11 per blade.

Reading some Indian forums and using google translate it seems that these blades are used a lot by barbers and tossed after 1 use. Hence the 1000 pack of blades. I am sure that multiple uses won't be a problem but that is how they seem to be marketed.

So the shave. The shave started out very smooth, and the blade moved effortlessly on my face. I did not feel any resistance like I did with the last couple of blades. The shave today ended just like it started; no irritation. I ended with BBS everywhere but my trouble spot which is low jawline left side of face, I didn't feel like chasing. So far this blade seems promising.

Volume 37 Topaz Platinum Use 2

well today was the second use on the blade in the Timeless, and the shave went real well again. I did start to feel the blade a bit more especially on my lower neck, but nothing bad. The blade has really impressed thus far. Has anyone used one of these before?

I am going to give it a third use tomorrow before offering up the final ranking. If it goes down hill and I end up with bad blade feel like I got on lower neck it might get a bad rating, if it does as well today or better... Well it will get a better rating.

Volume 38 Topaz Platinum Use 3

Alright well I did decide to do a third shave with this blade and loaded it up into the Parker Variant. The shave started out good, but did go down hill rather quickly. I ended up with 3 little pin pricks that meant blood. And I wanted so bad to like this blade. I mean with how cheap they can be had for it is such a great deal. And I might re-visit them one day. I teetered back and forth between putting them in the good category near the bottom or the bad category near the top. This blade has received a BAD rating.

Three Little Pricks and they rated as bad. Man I must not own any \"good\" Blades
\n\nGlad someone called me out on it. I definitely made it sound like that was the main reason. Definitely NOT! The shaves got progressively worse, and the only good shave was the first shave. So I guess if I only wanted to use the blade one time then it could get a good rating but remember I like to get around 6 uses per blade.

Understood. I hate when a balde just falls apart. Why I will usually get rid of a blade after 3 shaves maybe 4. But I stand corrected on the Nacet you sent me. With my Megress I got 4 excellent shaves and it was going strong. I could have gotten more but had to toss it becuase I was not checking baggage on my way home.
