CBL Premium Shave Soap - Anouncments

Before I answer I want to be very clear, I believe sourcing supplies (like tubs) is a HUGE hurdle to overcome for start-ups. I mean it when I say it is just this side of impossible to find sources that offer what you are looking for and even harder to find ones that sell in small quantities at reasonable prices. This is an area where relationships start to develop and really do matter. I get the impression sources like these are considered trade secrets.

Rather than post where I get my tubs I’ll PM you (and anyone else) the sites that I get tubs from. I get the larger ones from one place and the smaller 3 ounce ones (like Wild West Soap Co has started using) from another. I don’t mean to be all secretive, I just want to avoid inadvertently sharing “trade secrets”.

Chris’ Spook game is strong!

You've got to know the secret handshake in at least 5 different languages for that kind of intel.

I think in another thread we have a calling for a small batch of Earl Grey please.

I have about 6.5 ounces of the Earl Grey Cmh737 speaks of. I have no plans to sell this one but will gladly distribute to those interested. Based on an earlier promise made to you Dave, I will be sending some your way. If others want in on it I can scoop out a few one ounce portions before sending the tub to you. I’m thinking the formula is slightly different but VERY good. I had it narrowed to two versions and the earl was made with the one I’m not selling

Wow, first off thanks for answering. Not being an artisan, I didn't realize that this would be trade secret sort of material.

As hard as it was to find the things I thought I was going to have to put my soap in little baggies until the international artisan guild approved my membership and sent me the handbook of secret stuff.

On a serious note, I have said it before and mean it still. I will be as transparent as possible in how my little business runs so anyone else coming behind me to start their own shop (a Mr MacVey perhaps) doesn’t have to struggle with the same little things I did. If you have questions I will always answer, if not here I will do it via pm

Nice lineup Chris, if any sweet coconut can find it's way into a tube I would buy it.
i ordered a few different oils JUST for you. I will admit I am not a fan of coconut, or at least it doesn’t do much to please me. I have settled on one oil that I think fits the bill. Not to worry my friend, the monkey will have his coconut.

So a question Chris...just out of curiosity. Have you thought about soap sticks? I know many artisans don't do this...Mystic Water is an exception I think. I know this is just another overhead item that your just starting business probably doesn't want to incur at this time. But just wondering what your thoughts were on them. Your soap might be a little soft for it...but just curious. Also, from the couple places that do sell their soaps in sticks...I have noticed that the sticks cost almost the same amount as the tubs and there is a bit less in them in the tubs. Not sure if this is a way to improve profits or whatever! Again...just curious!

My current recipe would probable not be able to be adapted to stick (but it doesn’t mean I won’t try). With some changes it wouldn’t be difficult to do. The cost per ounce to make soap might be enough to offset the added cost of stick tubes but in smaller quantities the cost would probably be much more substantial. I imagin the work involved might be a bit more too, if nothing else it requires a different approach.

I tell you what Don. I’ll work on this idea as long as you agree to be a test dummy. I probably wouldn’t want to do many scents. A good soap stick is worth owning, I hear good things about Michelle’s soap sticks so at least we know someplace we can definitely find them (and she makes them in all of her scents right?).

I am open to doing whatever the community is asking for as long as I can do it well enough to justify bringing it to market. I am guessing the softness of my soap/croap is something I may be asked to improve upon so it’s worth exploring ways to make it more firm.

First of all...I'm already a Dummy...so the test part would have to be added. That being said I'm happy to be a test dummy!

I do want to clarify though, this was just a curiosity. Of course I am happy to purchase a product of yours like this. I happen to like soap sticks. But this wasn't a request. I was just curious as to what your thoughts were on the subject. Anything you do definitely needs to be profitable!

It’s been a busy weekend but I did manage to get some soap ready to go. I am happy to announce that Orange Dirt and CBL Barbershop or now available on the website. I Also have Pineapple Colantro almost ready, still need to print labels. Comming very soon is the Fresh Vetiver, it’s planned but ready yet.
