Brew's Foul Concoction

I'm like KJ. I'm not usually as interested in the shaving part as I am with the every day life part.
Usually dont have the chance to comment as much as I'd like, but I do try and keep up with how everyone is doing.

I had a real nice swim earlier, followed by the rest of my morning routine. I used some old C. Salter wild rose cream, which was one of my favorite roses when I was on a rose kick for a bit. That's a real versatile fragrance for a cream, that is easily followed by Tabac or bay rum. Today it was followed by some AoS oud balm and YSL oud absolut cologne. I used the same Barton razor as yesterday. I tend to use a razor twice, then rotate to the next.

Forgot to mention, Fall boot weather has arrived here in the birthplace (?) of American razors.

These are some Alden NSTs, probably my favorite boot.

Okay now I'm getting Google ads for dress boots.

Very different style of boot. I don't own too many work boots; mostly casual and hiking. I find the different leathers used for boots and shoes fascinating, like for strops. Each can be appreciated for use fit for its purpose.
I really like the look of some dress boots. Especially the pair you pictured. But like you said, different style. With the different leathers and construction they probably wouldn't hold up well. That pair is only about 2 months old I think. Maybe 3.
The biggest thing that has kept me from buying any dress boots for myself is I'm not very dressy. Clean jeans and a non printed T-shirt are pretty much my dress clothes 90% of the time. That and after spending 10-16 hours in work boots, loosely tied sneakers are a lot more relaxing.
Some day though.

I'm in the same boat. Work uniform and work boots (Ariat pull ons) or basketball shorts and Toms. I did invest in some really nice dress shoes, but I don't wear them often because I haven't needed to interview in over a year. My fiancee also got me some really nice English Laundry leather sneakers to bridge the gap between my dress shoes and my dirty Vans. Simply, I prefer my Toms and Vans.

I’ve stopped tying sneakers all together. I tighten the laces a tad after I put them on, then just tuck the laces into the shoe so that they’re sandwiched in by my foot. So much easier!

Velcro sneakers need to make a return! :ROFLMAO:

I guess that as I get older I find myself getting a little more formal. I'd rather not wear a t-shirt and sneakers, even on the weekend. What's even more strange is that this is completely unnecessary, because I work from home. I could wear slippers all day, and no one would care. But that's just not me. The boots are nice, but they're not really "for show," as no one be me and the dog will see them usually. They're just what I like.

I'm not a big fan of non-natural scales, but I'm on the fence about these.

There's no doubt about the shave, though. One of my favorite modern razors.

Beautiful Boker Larry! The scales have just the right amount of accent to keep them from being to close to boring celluloid.
