There's still some available on the secondary market. Lots of Cadre members have been buying them up (and selling some) recently on the BST. The prices even seem to be what they were retailing for originally.

Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
Aftershave 2: Pinaud Special Reserve

Well the aluminum version of the General showed up yesterday afternoon so I decided to take it for a spin with a new pro guard blade. Got a nice smooth shave that for me was just as close as the Rx gets me. It's not as good a "looker" as the Rx but does as good a job for me and that's just a first shave with it. My only issue with it is the weight. It's comfortable but very light, duh it's aluminum. That being the case I tended to use a light amount of pressure to get the desired results. This resulted in 1 dig/nick on my chin. Nothing horrendous and bout sealed up on it's own already. More thoughts as I get another use or 2 on it. Obviously I would prefer the Brass General for the heft, but they are near impossible to find used for sale and this presented an opportunity at a very reasonable price. I did notice it doesn't slide as easy as the brass version but isn't a big issue.

The soap was a joy to use with astounding slickness that smelled great. Basically the Cigar Shop Indian with added gun powder and leather (Now we're talking)

Going to work a little later and staying a little later to wrap up the week and take Friday off. Have a great day Cadre !!
 
The extreme light weight of the aluminum General was something that I didn't care for. I used it with a heavier handle to see if that would make a positive difference, but it didn't - for me.
 
Looks like a nice shave Dave, but I just skimmed it so I really can't be sure one way or the other...

That is my next step too Chris, but I'm assuming without the head weight I won't get where I want to. I do know someone will appreciate if I come to that conclusion as I will pass it on for the same good deal I got on it.

So it is fair to say that the aluminum version of this razor requires a little work to figure out! Nice thoughts on the shave Dave and a little extra work to get a day off sounds awesome! You deserve it!
 
That's okay buddy. You'll learn there's not reason to look at other SEs with a RX in the stable. But you cheat on her too much and she'll get upset and bite ya!
 
I know I am in the minority but I feel the aluminum general is actually perfectly weighted and balanced. I love my general.
