Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Thanks for the Paladin/SV comparison. The SV is probably the one brush I think is better looking than the Paladins. The exorbitant cost is off putting though.

Agreed, had my eye on the SV for awhile but if I hadn't found this one brand new on the secondary for 120 I'd still be wondering. They're a $200 brush new all day long but $250+ I feel is stretching it.........

Shave # 355 ( 408 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Wizamet (12)
Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft Silvertip
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Dragon's Pub
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Dragonsbeard Skin Food Splash
Fragrance: Acqua Di Gio Profumo

@mrdoug was looking forward to the use and description of Dragon's Pub, I believe for another individual. Did a video of it. In a nut shell it's a nice mash up of the Dragonsblood and Roasted Oatmeal Stout with the Stout a little more pronounced than the Dragonsblood. I would prefer the reverse but they do play well together. The Dragon is at the Pb and he's had quite a few Stout. Nice job @CBLSoap.com !! Video uploading to my thread in the Member Video section. I have played hooky for 2 days but MUST work today............after a muffin and coffee. Have a Great Day Cadre !!!!

Thanks Eric. I wanted to include today's scent thoughts now that I've got some shots of it on me.

Acqua Di Gio Profumo is a considered option for the dynamic man who is not afraid to express his adventurous side. Launched by luxury design brand Giorgio Armani in 2015, this airy, multifaceted fragrance is inspired by the power, depth and intensity of the ocean. Citrus top notes of bergamot deliver a clean, zesty hit that gives way to an herbal, earthy and subtly floral heart of rosemary, sage and geranium. A woody base that features robust patchouli notes completes this appealing package and leaves you feeling fresh and confident all through the day.

I get a bright citrus beginning that then settles to the more floral and earthy dry down. Not overly floral which I'm glad as I'm not a huge floral guy. Just a nice bright and fresh scent. This would be a good one to have to balance all the darker earthy scents I gravitate to.

Very nice! That is one that I don't think I've even tried a sample of yet, though it's gotten consistently great reviews(big surprise there) and I've considered just pulling the trigger on it more than once. Truth is, I've got so many samples that I haven't gone through yet that it's a little sad. There are several that I've wanted to get to trying, but there is only enough left for one use.

Shave # 356 ( 409 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Wizamet (13)
Brush: Wolf Whisker Black Wolf
Soap: Murphy & McNeil Naid
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Stirling Peach
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

Late morning shave as I had some studying for Sunday to do and a Doc appointment this afternoon so Cadre Friday, YAY !! A seldom had shower before my shave as I'm an afternoon after work showerer normally. I know I don't do enough prep as I should for a shave normally as I most times just splash water on my face for a minute or 2 before face lathering an shaving. It' nice when combining the shower and shave as a ritual if you can for sure, just doesn't jive most times with my schedule. Naid is more a cream than a soap as it's from their earlier base but if careful loading it yields amazing lather and I love the apricot and fressia scents. Simple and sweet without being cloying. The Stirling Peach AS and Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet EdT just top it all off perfect. 13th shave on the Wizamet was perfect and going strong. Have a great day Cadre !!

Dang, the comfort level for me drops into the toilet if I don't get a shower first to soften that stuff up. Have you ever tried that hot towel wrap prep that barber Dave uses?

Late morning shave ... woohoo Cadre Friday!

I’m the same on shave prep, just splash and go. Man I’m impressed with the Wizamet longevity too. Have a great day!

You're just more Manly Dave.......................or Pampered......................................not sure 😜 Yeah, I've done the hot towel but too much hassle to me. Process has worked for me for over 10 years and don't see a need to change it (y)
