Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Fragile Confusion sounds like an interesting scent to say the least. And Sartorial looks incredibly complex on paper. How well do they pair?
Hmmm, I'm not good at this but again the Fragile Confusion is soooo light it could pair with anything.
I see you have been pulling out the Psycho Tech lately...they really are great shavers!
Thanks Don !
Another great shave Dave! I liked the psycho-confusion tie in.
The just seem to go together. Thanks Rich !
Nice ... very nice! Great looking setup!
Thanks Tim !

Wait...is that a straw? ...and a lid? Wow, must be nice.

Love the roller bar, I’m definitely going to be finding me one of those. Believe it or not I think I have a straight razor with a rollerbar guard. I’ll have to dig it out.
I think I just got you taken care of with one (y)

2019 Shave # 120 ( 173 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Feather SS
Blade: Feather Pro Guard (?)
Brush: Paladin 26mm Lime Lotus
Soap: Soapy Science Doc' Special Blend
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Speick
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Endymion

Was going to go with the complete set up above but with the Vector today. For some reason I grabbed the Feather SS instead and did all 3 passes with it. BBS 90% of the face with DFS on the rest. No blood sans a single dot near the mouth which is normal and was sealed before AS was even applied. That's a definite win for me and a surprise but I'm not asking any questions.

First use of SS Doc's Special Blend (KingFisher). Described on there site as " This special blend has been described as "invigorating", "smoked citrus", and "A combination of cold pressed citrus oils, along with a very earthy & smoky vetiver." A combination of cold pressed citrus oils, along with a very earthy & smoky vetiver are blended with steam distilled Peppermint, Rosemary, Basil and Wintergreen oils to produce this scent now known as "Doc's Special Blend" that you are sure to remember and thank the Good Doc for someday! " --------- I got the cooling coming thru from the peppermint and wondered if it had menthol as I hadn't read the description before using. Their description of "A combination of cold pressed citrus oils, along with a very earthy & smoky vetiver." is pretty accurate for me. I decided to go with the Speick because it doesn't have a strong scent that lasts and wanted to try the Endymion as I go out the door for Services. Have a great day Cadre !!!

Nice shave again today Dave! From the people that have posted about Soapy Science Soaps it seems that they use some high quality essential oils to scent their soaps. Don't know if you can confirm or deny!

Good stuff!! Get this man a straight razor, he’s mastered the SS.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I wouldn't say mastered but can accomplish a great shave at a slower pace when I have time. Got plenty of straights already. Thanks Dave ! will say I've been teased about (and that's fine (y)) my unorthodox way of holding it like a Kami style but notice that Josh does the same. I just hold how it's comfortable for me.

The scents are a good strength. Not overly strong but good. I can't say whats in it any more than you may have read as they didn't invite me to watch while they made it and I wouldn't know the difference of what is use. Sorry and thanks Don !

nice shave Dave

anything interesting in this mysterious stash of SRs?
Depends on what interesting is, I forget what I have from before and 3 additions from Chris' yard sale. 1st I ever used is a Restored Black Diamond and my Favorite is a Restored worked Back Boker. Also a gifted but needs cleaning and honing Pipe Razor among some others that need attention and may visit you at some point. Sent the Henckels I had to Tim and he's putting it to good use which makes me happy it's getting used.
