So i had only a vague sense of what this picanha cut looked like from internet pics like so i thought I’d share.

I’ll skewer them in curved pieces.

Wow! The fat cap is definitely crazy on a hot fire. But amazing! 🔥 Definitely enough steak for 6-8 adults and we only had 4. So basically a whole cap left. Medium rare to medium. Next time, one cap sliced thicker and one thinner and a reverse sear or maybe even sous vides.

Happy fathers day!

Happy father's day to nearly all of the Cadre members I know (those that are not father's, I envy the extra sleep you've had over the past 28 years).

Decided I deserved t-bones for the first father's day without a hug from my daughter (she moved to Tennessee).

A little hand ground pepper and some garlic spices of my own creation.

Also going to use a mixture of hickory chips and Jack Daniel's whiskey barrel chips (a gift from the SIL).

Using the tried and true Weber charcoal chimney (if you're not using a chimney and charcoal....who are you?)

Sure looks tasty.

Gotta use them tongs...no pointy meat forks... it'll ruin your steak. (Also, the Pizza Port Chronic Amber Ale is encouraged)

Perfection!!

Chronic… like chronic?
Its a clever name....no actual Chronic in the beer. The brewers down in the San Diego area have a tendency to be enjoyers of the whacky tobacky.....

I did once try beer with THC in it. Didn't do anything for the flavor or the buzz. It was homebrew from a fellow homebrewer that I judged for a competition. We gave him a low score.

I got into a deep rabbit hole of grills. Ended up adding a few to the collection.

2001 Black Weber 22” Kettle Premium
2002 Black Weber 22” Kettle Performer
1998 Green Weber Genesis 1000
1996 Red Weber Genesis 1000
1980s Hasty Bake Continental 83
2017 Blackstone 28” Griddle (no pic)

The green is being refurbished and will be gifted to my brother.

The red is a new to be but will be redone as well and then gifted to my dad.

This is just as bad as RAD, SAD, etc. I’m sure Dave would love to get me to the CEC at this point.

Wanted to create something special and well rounded for dinner. Picked up this NY strip for cheap. Reversed seared to medium. Created an arugula salad with blistered grapes with a honey white wine dressing. Grilled squash and a baked potato.

It was one of my favorite meals in awhile. I used cherry wood for a lighter smoke compared to my usual hickory.
