I read somewhere that the EU had banned the use of talcum. Are these products talcum or cornstarch?

Almost all are Cornstarch and Zinc oxide anymore and the whole cancer thing was largely proven wrong

I believe borotalco is still talc based. At least that's what it said when I ordered it, and Pinaud still has a white talc powder that is on groomatorium and italian barber.

That was my understanding, and that even the allegations had to do with asbestos tainting the talc being used for feminine hygiene. Thanks for the info!

A very nice shave with some new hard ware and initial impressions of the Occam. A nice Razor, but still to early to tell if it is a Contender to the current SE King of the Den the Blackland Vector. Finished up with a DSBBS shave, and did a video inlcuding a discussion of Barbershop Scents as well and is posted below.

Barbershop Soap Shootout
Day -2

Couple of Shootout started, somewhat by accident. Was already doing the comparison of the Occam and Vector, when there were some inquiries on BarberShop Scents and Soaps, so why not, however this one is a bit longer in the soap Shootout, more on that in a minute. As to the Vector/Occam battle I will be using the Occam the remainder of the week till Probably Sunday. This should give a fair shake to see if it can compare to the Vector. My hopes are not high, but will give is as fair a shot as I can.

As for the Soaps, I am going to try to make it "International BarberShop Scents" to the mix. This is not an inclusive list, but ones I feel pass muster as a True Barbershop Scent. Performance and all other standards will, as always be a factor, but the weight will be heavy on Fragrance. Here are the Contenders:

Maggard's London Barbershop
WSP Formula T Barbershop
Fine American Blend
LIsa's Barbershoppe
Mystic Water Barbershop
Barrister & Mann Seville
Prosaso Green
Penhaligon's Bayolea
Mike's Natural Barbershop
CBL Barberchair
CBL Barbershop
CFG Ghost Town Barber ( not because it is a true scent, but I love it and it has the word barber in it LOL)

So a good lineup. Other than the Occam many of these will be straight shaves, but should be a fun shootout!

Today was a good shave and Video below.

Barbershop Soap Shootout
Day-3

Day 3 of the next in the shootout series and the Vector is pulling away from the Occam like a Corvette from a Yugo, even with the Cap change. Ungainly is the best I can describe. Still OK and will soldier on to give it a fair shake, but I do not think the chances are good despite trying to be and non-bias as possible.

As for the shave - DSBBS, Good, Good, Good. This portion of the shootout is going to be a "Battle Royale" and a whole bunch of fun.
