BarberDave's Shaveapalooza

Too bad the DJMH mix was not what you were hoping for, though I have to echo that the presentation was fantastic. I've got Black in the soap version, and absolutely love the scent! Ahh, the first Barzini. Someday I'll have to come up with a Santino and Clemenza.

I am no fan of amber. There have been a couple soaps that have an amber note hidden in them that work well for me but when amber is an intentional scent it really puts me off. Vetiver on the other hand I tend to enjoy very much. With so much time spent surrounded by scents I don't blame you for becoming a scent snob.

Based on your love of Penhalligon's Elixer I bought some, it should show up soon.

I like Amber if the sent is combined with others to make a more complex experience. But all Amber is not appealing at all.

You mention that you like complex scents...does A&E fit your bill? I find some of their scents very complex...

Thanks Guys for all the comments, things have been a bit discombobulated the last few days sorry I did not repond sooner and Don, I have been watching the A&E on you posts, I have become intrigued and may need to try some. I did a soap inventory and re-arranging for the fall.winter and discovered that I have actually 426 soaps, creams, croaps, etc and about 220 samples in a shoe box. hmmmm I may be a hoarder, LOL

What do they say about the best laid plans??? LOL. Had all intention to get caught up on journals, do the Shave Cream, Croap, Soap video and enjoy a nice relaxing day on the forum. Oh Hell no! Woke much too early this morning to a hissing sound ( which turned out to be a small fountain of water from and around the water main...... Yes the main had a leak....Not a small leak..... but a leak so bad that overnight it percolated up through 36 inches of ground and gave us out very own "Old Faithful". Since we are on a well this occurred after the underground reducer and pressure pump located at 50 feet and much higher than the 750 feet that our well is located at. Thank God or the costs involved would have been stupid.

So at 0530.... On my day off, I might add, I began the fun of digging through mud hoping to find the leak. Accomplished that, so off went the water and a unscheduled trip to home depot, LOL, and a call to a buddy of mine that has a Backflow Company, to place on standby once the repair was fixed to make sure no other surprises reared their ugly heads. Did I mention Arizona and some other Southwestern states have a unique dirt layer beginning at about that depth called Caliche which loosely translates into Rock from Hell! Actually it is a calcium carbonate mix that will eat the best digging equipment and shovels, and guarantees the air to be filled with "Colorful Adjectives" for the entire surrounding community to hear, LOL.

Fortunately it was only a 4-hour ordeal and the blackflow test went well, so about 1500 hrs we again had water. I almost defaulted to no-shave today, but then figured I owed myself a slow deliberate luxury shave, so it was MentholPalooza.

The EA Berg and Iced Pineapple assisted by the RV brush made short work of the stubble with the icy pineapple goodness, but far my favorite soap from Rod. finished up with another blast of menthol with the platinum, and finally an obscene amount of Vasilli's of Creed Aventus. A nice way to finish what started to be a crappy day........ This of course was enhanced by a nice Laphroaig Lore as a early evening sipping bonanza along with some burgers on the grill.

Set-up:

Have a nice Tuesday Gents

Geez Dave that sounds horrible! Glad you have the water situation all straightened out now.

Bummer of a day off but nice way to end it. And yeah caliche is what hell is paved with for sure. I have been slowly removing oleanders from our back yard. Its evil.

Oh man...that does not sound like fun at all. I have had to do some plumbing work but it was mainly because I nicked a water line that was only eight inches deep. That is nothing compared to what you did. But it sounds like you finished your day with the Shave of all Shaves!

As far as A&E goes...The old base is quite good...the new base is so much better. And the scents are much more complex than most other soaps and aftershave...I think they would be up your alley!

Wrong thread Don

Crap! I hate it when I do this! Now the dilemma...delete my post and leave everyone wondering what happened...or leave it here and look like...well, look like I always do!
