BarberDave's Shaveapalooza

I'm thinking that Dave and Sharon need to become coffee roasters also...now they need a family of Civets to make Kopi Luwak!

ROFLMAO This thread is more fun when I am not here, LOL . Thanks for all the suggestions for more of the zoo. Thankfully Sharon cannot see this or I may be in real trouble. LOL

Well..... Other than having the flu for the past couple of days, and being home from school, I did decide to shave most of those days and for the last 5-shaves I had the honor of using CBL's newest interations. Although there are 4 or 5 different flavors to choose from I chose to take the "Banana Creeper" through it's paces and use all the same equipment to ensure a non bias review of the soap from our beloved Chris Lindsay.

As most, if not all, of you know I do not give out the moniker of "Elite" very easily. In fact I am downright stingy. Some of the over 400 soaps I have may indeed deserve an elite status, however just one of two items may disqualify it. Many of you also know that really only two soaps have ever made to it to my Elite status, that being Saponificio Varesino, and PannaCrema Nuavia. There have been a bunch that are close ( very high T1), but none have reached that stellar level till now. I only preface this statement to illustrate how good this new formulary from CBL really is.

I am a big fan of THB's Creeper line, although high T1 at best, the cooling properties are fantastic and "in-shave", and post shave are tremendous.

CBL's Banana Creeper BLOWS it away in all categories PERIOD. It takes it's place as a definite ELITE status soap in all aspects, and here is why:

Easy to load with no more that a 10-15 second load time. A tad of water added and it explodes in a nice wonderfully slick paste and only gets better as it is applied to the face and with a bit more water it rivals any of the SV offerings, as well as Nuavia. Fragrance is wonderful with it edging on just being that over ripe banana, bit not to much. It ides that wonderful edge masterfully. In-shave properties are stupendous smooth slick with a very nice post pass slickness. After 3- passes nothing more that water was needed to complete a clean-up. Residual fragrance is very nice as well, subtle enough as not to interfere with any aftershave of Edt, but a reminder that you just smashed a banana in your face.

This would pair very well with "Bat" EdP to complete that banana experience. I do no know all the changes that Chris made to this formulary but IMHO it is his Opus and by far the BEST he has ever produced. Elite status all the way joining the ranks of the big boys....At least in my den.

I look forwar
d to trying the others that were scent and will pass on my reviews as well. Thanks again Chris.

THE SHAVE: 3-passes a bit of cleanup of DSBBS (G) (10) Clearly one of the top 5 shaves. I think the combo of the Chevalier, the CBL Banana Creeper and a longer than normal prep, enhanced this shave quite well.

SET-UP:

On the homefront:
Not much to update on, as I stated a few days off from school due to illness has kep me pretty much flat in bed prior to today. We had a pretty bad hail storm that came though a week or two ago that obliterated Sharon's moms home, so we are dealing with the CAT claim on that, but it is going smoothly our zoo has remained the same size with no eggs yet, but we are hoping soon

That is it for now, I hope all is well with all of you, and will catch up on your journals and the site as I can. Thanks, as always for being a part of the TSC, it is greatly appreciated.

Great review Dave! Though I am definitely not a banana fan...you can't argue with performance .

Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law...I know all to well what feels like to have your home destroyed. I will say a prayer for her.

Great update Dave! Glad you’re feeling better.

The CBL soap sounds great! Hopefully THB doesn’t peruse these forums just yet lol!

It kind of makes sense in a twisty way. Bananas are pretty slick, a natural for a shave soap!

. Do you think Llama milk may be a thing for soaps like donkey milk?

Thanks for the positive review Dave (don’t try to cash that check until after this weeks lottery is drawn). Like Lisa, I set out to purposely alter my formulation and process to prod the best possible outcome. (The secret ingredient is rooster milk....just a little is all it takes.) the changes weren’t big, in fact they were staring me in the face the whole time. I love the opus reference, totally fits.

It takes it's place as a definite ELITE status soap in all aspects........

Now Chris is like, “Where’d I put that recipe again?”

a few days off from school due to illness has kep me pretty much flat in bed prior to today.
Wait, you’ve been laid up in bed and haven’t been chatting with us this whole time??????

Sounds like a phenomenal shave, Dave! Glad you’re on the mend, there are way too many posts to read them all, but I’m sure you’re still being Dave.
I tried Chris’ Beta 3 several a year ago when he was kind enough to send us some much needed hand made baby but cream. It was amazing, I had Pipe wood and “lavender creeper” and wow they were great! I can’t imagine what he’s done to make them better.

First off, great shave and from everything you said, Chris hit the ball out of the park with this iteration of his soap.

Sorry to hear about Sharon's mothers place, hopefully everything goes well with the insurance claim. Get well soon Dave, great to see you pop in!

Wow, now that’s quite the soap!

You retired guys can’t keep burning the candle at both ends like that. Try to turn it back down to a 10 so you can make it through the winter!

1st of all I hope you are feeling better and bummer about the MIL's house.

Great shave, review, and picture!

An even better CBL soap.... awesome!

Great catch up, Dave. Hope you are on the mend, and that everything goes smoothly with the claim for MIL's house.

And what they heck?!?! Chris made a Creeper?
