Ok, very preliminary work. I'm almost done with the belt sander, and then the real scary stuff starts. I'm just glad I haven't burned through it yet like I did the first FOUR last time I did this lol.

My Dremel completely died on me when I tried to turn it on on day one of the contest, which may not be the best omen. Fortunately I have a decent pencil die grinder at work, which I brought home. The small compressor I use for my resin casting pressure pot will run it, but not at it's highest speed and not for longer than a couple of minutes at a time before I need to let the pressure build back up. Still, it's better than nothing, and going slower might actually keep me from getting overeager and screwing it up.

I am going to attempt to enter two razors into the contest, and have very specific themes for both. I tried to cast the blank for the matching brush handle for one of them a little while ago. We'll see how it came out later this evening or tomorrow.

I couldn’t leave well enough alone, so I took it back to the belt sander and did pretty much the same thing @Fenster did lol. I got started on another one this morning, and also cast the blanks for the scales and matching handle.

What I’m envisioning is essentially a straight razor that looks like it actually wants to eat your face, so I think I picked the appropriate color scheme.

The spine still needs some thinning, but I didn’t really feel like it so I did a bit of work with the die grinder instead. Barely started and I managed to accidentally scratch the surface near the toe, which I hope buffs out without thinning the blade too much. Other than that it’s a decent start.
