Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

@Spider Nice shave but must ride the capto much to smooth it out. I like how it looks, I'll keep it around and use occassionally but to aggressive like most single ring types for me. Don't know how you like them since you prefer mild supposedly.......we seem diametrically opposed buddy

1st time ever doing a journal and will try to keep some regular updates to shaves here although I don't know how regular my entries will be. We'll see how it goes........

Today I took a second day to use my Rockwell 6s R5

Razor: Rockwell 6s R5
Blade: Pol Silver SI (8)
Brush: Rubberset 400 with a Tuxedo Synthetic Knot
Soap: Chiseled Face Summer Storm Soap
Aftershave: Humprhey's Witch Hazel and Chiseled Face Summer Storm

After using my new to me Karve with plate "D" for a week I wanted to go back to the 6s again to compare. I need more cleanup using the 6s but get a MUCH smoother shave than with the "D" plate Karve. I hope to get a "C" plate eventually to compare and maybe an "F" as well. I love the Karve and get smooth shaves but have to pay more attention to the process than with the 6s which can be like autopilot and mindless shaving without irritation for me. So I enjoy both and both are still fairly new to me as I was up til now a Vintage razor guy. That's #1 for the books

That is a nice brush! I really like my own two band Shavemac.

I saw that you used CBL California Sunrise recently. What do you think of that particular soap and scent?
Glenn @Southsider It is modeled after Amouage Sunshine for Men cologne. It is said to be a floral scent but I'm not a big floral guy and don't get that as much as a spicy or caramel like scent. Strength is strong and enjoyable but blended well enough I don't get individual notes picked out. If you want a sample just pm me your address to send it to.
Josh does a nice review of it here (video is on this page I linked) that will better describe it as it was a request of his for CBL to make

2019 Shave # 81 ( 136 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable (5)
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (3)
Brush: Paladin 26mm Lime Lotus
Soap: Strop Shoppe Black Tie
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
Aftershave 2: Proraso Green

Another Strop Shoppe shave with Black Tie today. A good lather although taking me a bit to dial it in because of lack of use. Another vintage razor, my birth year 1964 Slim. Nice shave although not as close in areas as I like or want even with extensive cleanup This leaves me wondering about the sharpness of the Rapiras which I had liked before even though not a top blade for me. Probably been spoiled by the Gillette Rubies, Gillette Silver Blues and Pol Silver SI's which are my go to blades. Binned the Rapira after 3 shaves. I find lately that while I love variety and will maintain it, I am also zeroing in on what I normally grab to use regularly and will narrow things down. Strop Shoppe I may keep the Russian Tea and let the other 3 go to someone wanting to have some shave history in their den. Topped off with the Proraso Green which I just love the scent of whenever I use it. Have a GREAT day Cadre !!
