Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Sorry for the slight tingle. I hate it when you have a soap and like it for all intensive purposes...but then there is that burn or tingle! It just sucks!

Thanks Don, disappointing but not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Just makes me happy to be able to pass on to someone that will enjoy it more fully.

I had a brush like that for all of 5 minutes. The wife snagged it and she loves it. Bummer about the tingle, escpecially when it’s a scent that you like.

Oh ... on the “S” thing, I got your back. You got this!

Yeah he's got this. He has more shaving gear that he bought in the last month than most people amass in their lifetime!

Noooo not the ‘tation again! That sucks. Glad the injector is working well though. Another thing to add to the list.

Bummer about the irritation Dave, but I agree to move on and just stick with the stuff that works better for you...especially since you could basically start a wholesale shave products business with what you bought this month! ???

Razor: Asylum Rx "Aretha"
Blade: Kai Pink (1)

Brush: Rudy Vey Custom 26 mm Finest

Soap: Chiseled Face GTB (3017 started Jan 1st)

Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Chiseled Face GTB

Starting the Chiseled Face 3017 with my Ghost Town Barber as Tim says, Let's kick this pig !! ???

Let's just what say I need to say, I wasn't as enthralled with Aretha as TJ and Dave were with Kate and The Doctor and felt it wasn't as aggressive as they were saying nor as efficient as Journals I read said it was. Well the Pro Guard blade was on 10 so decided to try 1 of 2 blades John was kind enough to send when loaning his Rx to me to try. Went with the Kai Pink (why did they call it pink?) for it's first shave in 2019. Yep, blades make a difference. After the 1st pass it was clear I needed to pay a little more attention after lopping off the top of something just in font of my right ear. Respected passes 2 and 3 and feel like my face is as smooth as glass. Will use this blade for awhile before trying the Schick Proline 30 which is the other one John sent along. Used the Alum to seal a few weepers around the mouth (normal for me but been awhile since needing Alum) as well as whatever I took the top off near my ear.

The brush from Tom who says this is a Stirling Finest 26 mm. Are you sure ? This thing is awesome and HUGE on the face. Appears and feels bigger then a 28 mm to me. Check the pic after shave and cleaning it. My first Rudy Vey and Tom, it found a good home. Thanks !
Hoping all in the Cadre have a great day !!

Well, great shave to start off the new year and a great looking brush to go with it. But I do have to say...with all the GTB SOTDs that are going to be posted...this place might just get a little boring. [SIGH] I guess I will just have to liven this place up a bit!

Thanks Don and I hope you do. Miss your presence when your busy Big Guy

Well I won’t post pics of the soap for the 3017 except at the beginning and the end Don. The razor and brush though I will be sharing!
