Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Nice shave, shame the razor didn’t work out for you. Hope you have a relaxing day. Piddling days are the beat!

Razor: Asylum Rx
Blade: Feather Pro Guard (10)

Brush: Paladin 26 mm Lime Lotus

Soap: CBL Ghost Lime

Aftershave 1: Nivea 2 in 1 Aftershave
Aftershave 2: Avon island Lime

Saturday morning and back to a known setup. Whipped up a fantastic lather from the Ghost Lime on my face. Swiped it off with Aretha and shave 10 on the Pro Guard. No Dave she had no hard feelings and didn't bite at all. Have 2 other blades to try in this when this one is ready to bin. That will help see what other packs I may want to get besides the pack of Pro Guards I started with. Not real familiar with AC style blades and how many shaves to expect out of it. I'm sure the comfortable/efficient happy zone is somewhere between what Chris (Noir) and Dave (Nurse) would suggest as they seem to be at the 2 extremes of the spectrum in blade use. ? I reached for the Nivea 2 in 1 AS and should more often. Not that I had a need for relief today but it is just a soothing feel for the face without being greasy. Topped with a healthy douse of Avon Island Lime and probably more just before I head out the door. Have an Awesome weekend Cadre !!

Ah, the lady is treating you right. I too have been wanting to try the unguarded pro blade in that. I did try the Kai Pink at one point and didn’t care for them as well.

Nice report Dave.
\nThanks Jim

\nGood to know, John sent me a Kai Pink and a Pro Line to try. Just haven\'t wore out the Pro Guard yet
Excellent set up, Dave.
\nThanks Eric
Aretha is looking good! I think Gumby’s got a date!
Thanks Chris

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (12)

Brush: Sorrentino Cadre Member Custom w/Cashmere

Soap: PdP #63

Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Vintage Old Spice
Cologne: PdP #63 EdT

Craven the #63 so went with that today and it never disappoints. Used my Cadre Member brush. This was my 1st Cashmere knot and I LOVE it. Glad the Hybrid with the disappointing Envy Shave knot is now with Eric to get one of these 1/4 moon cashmere's put in. After a sublimely gloriously close shave with the Rockwell and GSB on shave 12 I topped with a decent amount of my Vintage Old Spice. I have had headaches after using before and had considered selling my Vintage OS aftershave, cologne and talc (Avon Spicy works good to replace) but wanted to give it another go to test something. Yep seem to be okay. I used a good amount but didn't overdo it which I think was my downfall.Glad I can continue with it. Reminds me of my father that was out of my life for 30+years but reconnected about 7 years ago. Some shots of the PdP 63 EdT and I'm Lovin' how smell.

Bike in the picture has a story. On another forum they had a thread of posting pics of your 1st bike. Well this was mine. When I asked my mom for it, she just looked at me and said the grandkids still play with it when they come to the house. Mind you she has an arsenal of Fisher Price toys and those rugrats wouldn't know it was missing in that boat load of stuff.....................sorry, started to rant...............anyway I scoured ebay til I found a reasonable priced replacement to swap with her so I could have my FIRST bike. I missed my 1st bike like my last and the dozen of so in between. At least I can keep my 1st now indefinitely. KJ's motorcycle thread had me reminiscing and so put it in today's SOTD pic. Maybe I'll ave models of some of my other bikes grace some SOTD pics in the future. Have a great weekend Cadre, Especially with your family time most get this time of year !!

Bummer on the OS headache!

Cool first bike! I bet it can fly, do tricks, and go a million miles an hour!

Razor: Feather AC First 2 passes/Clean up pass Rockwell 6s
Blade: Feather Pro Guard (2)

Brush: Sorrentino Custom w/Tuxedo

Soap: CBL Watson

Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Skin Bracer

Went 2 passes with the SS and cleanup pass with the 6s. No fuss no drama, just feels like cheating doing final pass with the DE. Nice soap performance (Big Surprise - right?) from the CBL Watson. Have a splendid day Cadre!
