I’m coming right out and saying it: I don’t care for the artwork on this shave soap. Ariana & Evans does some really cool and thoughtful labels, but this one gives me the creeps. It makes me think of Medusa. Sad that with them having so many scents available, my favorite happens to be the one with the artwork I do not care for. The scent is spectacular, though. Peter has offered to make a fragrance for me of it for $70 (I believe he will do this for most scents). He even asked if I would like him to tone down the peach in it, but I am not sure I would want him to do that. Once I finish this sample of Smash, I will treat myself. Hopefully, that will coincide with the end of summer as I think Smash is a good summer scent and Peach & Cognac seems a bit more geared toward colder weather.
Smash has been discontinued (though I think there are some on sale at the HoM website) and was created by Will at Barrister and Mann. It is based on the cocktail: the bourbon smash. It features notes of peach, cane sugar, tobacco, bourbon, and hedione. I love the peach upfront, but there is something slightly cloying on the dry-down. Maybe it is the cane sugar or the hedione? There are some moments later in the day when it can be slightly obtrusive. But, still a lovely scent and perfect for a day with lovely weather.
The Shaving Cadre has a few gentlemen that are going to do Mystic May (using Mystic Water throughout the month of May). I encourage you to join or to check out Mystic Water if you have not. I will participate, but with one caveat since I have been sent so many samples and purchased some new stuff, Mystic May Every Other Day.
Have an awesome day, friends!
