7 February, 2026

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Another great shave this morning! Returned to A&E and their excellent "Vanille de Tabac" shave soap and splash. A wonderful dupe of TFTV with a great lather built with the Wild West Brushworks badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, the matching aftershave lotion & Phaedon "Tabac Rouge" EdP

Another effortless BBS shave!

Hope you have a great day. :)

Saturday morning - close to being a Grand Freeze:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/7 O’Clock day 9
Bundubeard Kudu’s Kick SS
Gold Bond Moisturizer
Floid Vigoroso AS Splash

Guys, check out the review on the Kudu’s Kick that I wrote and I think you’ll be very impressed because it’s so nice. Even though I’m not a big fan of glycerine soaps these Bundubeard ones and a few others are exceptions. The scent is a delightful blend of exotic coffee and peppermint, the lather explodes off my brush, it’s so slick, the menthol sensation is heavenly, and the postshave feeling is very comfortable. The Gold Bond moisturizer is so soothing and it doesn’t lack menthol either. Finally the Floid Vigoroso aftershave went on with an icy cold menthol punch along with its delightful old school barbershop scent that I love so much. Three passes gave me a dynamite BBS shave that I enjoyed from start to finish!

Wishing you all a great Saturday - be well and stay safe!

Saturday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Musgo Real Shave Soap
Jayaruh #222 Synthetic
AliExpress Double Open Comb
Gillette Nacet
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Duru Cologne

The Musgo Real Shave Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #222 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AliExpress Double Open Comb razor and the Gillette Nacet Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Duru Cologne. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Ive used the "Musgo Real Lime Glyce" as a face wash in the shower before the shave. Its hard to find, but it is effective and mild. I didnt even know they made shave soap!

Weekend shaves are awesome. I used Stirling Barbershop. Stirling seemingly is underappreciated as "a great soap for the price. Its a great soap at any price.

Floid Black, Stirling Barbershop (Best of class for me) the Zenith Stirling Boar brush - a very nice brush, but its being broken in, and the razor is the 2020 Paradigm Diamondback.1111.jpg

I smell like a million bucks! (My wife has a difference of opinion but I LOVE it!)
I'm sure it was a phenomenal shave, but my wife would be more than displeased if I used a scent like this. She has allergic reactions to most scents. I use a lot of unscented or extremely mild scented products. I wish she could tolerate more scents, but it is what it is.

I hope you are staying warm. Shavuah Tov!

Shave of the Day 🪒🌊

This one felt long overdue. Mama Bear’s Soaps has been a pillar of the wet-shaving world for what feels like forever, so when I spotted a Creed Royal Water–inspired shave stick, it was an instant add to cart moment.

Now, I’ll admit—I’ve never owned a full bottle of Royal Water… just a few decants here and there. And, of course, those are gone again. But no worries—I had a bottle of Mancera French Riviera ready to step in, and wow does it hold its own. Bright, breezy, aquatic, and effortlessly classy—an absolute stunner in its own right.

The shave stick? An absolute champ. It built a rich, creamy lather with ease—slick, protective, and exactly what you want when nostalgia meets performance.

To close it all out, I reached for Draconis Aqua from Subtle Art Soap Co., and that sealed the deal. Cool, refreshing, and perfectly in tune with the aquatic theme—it was the ideal finishing touch.

Classic soap. Coastal vibes. Zero regrets.
This shave was smooth sailing from start to finish 🌊✨

Sunday morning:

Hot shower
Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
Super Speed/7 O’Clock day 10
Lyko SC (from India and fantastic!)
Lubriderm Moisturizer
Alt Innsbruck AS Splash

A few years ago I bought a couple of these Lyko creams for VERY cheap money and it’s wonderful stuff. It has a really nice aquatic/minty scent, it gives terrific lather from just a couple of small dabs on both cheeks - my Razorock Plissoft synthetic whipped it up beautifully, it has a pleasant menthol sensation, and it’s so skin friendly like most Indian creams. The Lubriderm moisturizer felt so soothing, and the Alt Innsbruck went on icy cold along with its delightful old school European scent that I love so much - even my darling wife told me how nice I smelled. Because I was in a bit of a hurry because I’m taking my friend to the airport I only did two passes but I still had an amazing BBS shave that was such a pleasure!

Wishing you all a nice, relaxing Sunday - be well and stay safe!
