Your Latest Fragrance Purchase

I'm not even sure that counts as a blind buy, safe as milk Brian
As much as I want to stand my ground, I have to admit that you are so right Cole lol….As soon as I got it home and sprayed it on my arm - I’m like - Well That’s definitely BDC - and it isn’t even really a stretch. I mean we’ve both had flankers that have taken a cologne in a totally different direction - but this is not the case.

I do have to say - as much as I love BDC and general and still prefer the opening of the original- I really love the dry down on this one - they are different in that effect - the sandalwood and the talc-like Tonka bean on this one are phenom.

The good thing is that I don’t even have to try the EdP - I‘m pretty sure that you take the top for the EdT and the dry-down for this one and get a pretty close approximation.

@GearNoir - I thought you had the EdP and preferred it to the EdT. Macy’s didn’t have the EdP out for me to try on my way out. What say you?

I think there's an illusion out there that EdP is necessarily 'better' than EdT, but the main thing is that there is more perfume oils, and consequently less alcohol, which means that the opening is usually more subdued, and projection less, since it's the alcohol that carries it from your skin so fast to create those bombastic openings.
There are some frags where truly the only difference is concentration of alcohol, and they do smell subtlety different. But I think a lot of designers just use the designation as way to create more flankers, and they are truly different smells.

I bought the EDP based on your recommendation. I haven’t tried the others. But from what I’ve read you seem to be right on. The EDT is the lightest and loudest, the EDP mellows things out, the Parfum brings a richness. Very similar to the Sauvage progression I think, though very different profiles of course.

I keep forgetting that I did smell the EdP at Macy’s when I was picking up another frag well over 2 years ago. It is so hard to place in my brain on what it smelled like - IMO you can’t go wrong with any of the concentrations - the “DNA” as they say is the same in all of them.

Lorenzo Villoresi - Atman Xaman

I'll leet Lorenzo (or his marketing manager) speak for himself this time:
A deep, intense, mysterious fragrance that radiates unique atmospheres: magical, spiritual, real and imaginary.
An enveloping scent of Leather, Tobacco and precious woods with light undertones of flowers and wild herbs, on a gentle, sensual background of fragrant resins, of Vanilla and Patchouli, of Amber and Musk.

Classy masculine, immortelle, tobacco, clove, amber and musk in the deep dry down. I can't imagine anyone here not going

over this gem.

That bottle is really classy!

Ok, I admit - not an avant-garde or high brow purchase - but my Blind Buy Streak is back on track. And the red bottle matches with a few of my shaving soap labels which as you know is an important consideration for any fragrance buy.

I was just about to pull the trigger on Maison Margiela Replica Under the Lemon Trees - well just because I love the Replica line - but thought I’d go this route with some deeper scents - my son likes his Cotton Candy soap and AS from Ginger’s Garden - and I thought I’d get this Dua Poseidon Cotton Candy - which is a mix of their version of Aventus with a Cotton Candy note - from what I’ve seen it is supposed to smell almost like a mix with Bacarrat Rouge 540. And the other was well, I love citrus and boozy scents. So there 😂 I’ll get the Replica next time.

Ok, had to go grown-up with a tip of the hat towards and old school. I love fougères and chypres - and since it doesn’t look like B&M will be restocking Le Grand Chypre in a parfum anytime soon - I always keep my eye out.

So not completely a blind buy - the nose behind these two is a fairly famous YouTuber that is known for his love of the old school scents (think Fougère Royal and Eau Sauvage)…..I have smelled his original and second releases - Gravitas and Bon Viveur. I was a little surprised - I knew I’d like both - but based on the notes - thought I’d like Bon Viveur better - but it was Gravitas that really stuck with me. However, the prices were up along the costs of a Chanel. Well fast forward and they‘ve just released the Chypre and packaged it in a bundle that makes the price a lot easier to stomach. So here we are:
