What Fragrance Did You Use Today?

Took a loooong break from this one. As much as I dislike this fragrance, I have now been able to appreciate it more. It's just a sad attempt to make a modern woody leather aromatic, which didn't have staying power in the market.

However, despite this, it's a surprising compliment getter as I've come to realize. Guys will point it out more than chick's, as they wanna be "put on game" and some women will compliment it as well, or just ask what you're wearing to put it on their man. It's a fun scent.

LV huh. Nice.

How's this one smell? I haven't seen any hype for it online and I can only get so much info from fragrance review sites.
I like it pretty good, I am not great at describing scents, but I would describe it as a masculine scent. I do not think it's worth the 500$ price point it commands. I just have it in a travel size.

Understandable. I'm a frag head and can yap all day about em if I had the time.
For me, LV isn't too imperative, and same with Chanel, as they share 2 things in common for me: 1 is they are definitely overpriced/over hyped, and 2 is that I can't stand their entire catalogue apart from that one rare, discontinued, or over priced fragrance.

I've got my nose over several LV with no real interest apart from Ombre Nomade (and maybe LV Lovers as it gets compliments, but once the Ginger leaves it smells like cut grass)

With Chanel... I love Le Lion. But I'll be DAMNED if I spend 300+ on a 2.5oz bottle. Like, the only expensive fragrance I'd really buy is the OG YSL PH and that's discontinued, but still can be obtained at around 200ish.

I love fragrances too. I probably have 20 or so full size bottles, and 100 travel size. I have a hard time paying much more than 100$ on a bottle, but I will splurge on Penahligons. I love their scents, I have a bottle of The Dandy showing up today.

But just like I am with cigars, I can't taste nor smell the individual flavor notes of cigars, and can't pick out the individual scents of frag. I either like them or I don't. I believe it's COVID's curse. Nothing smell or taste wise has been the same since.

Le Galion - Sovereign
Technically an amber, even though it’s not in vogue now, I’d call it an oriental, because it’s just so not like most ambers I’ve tried. Rich, opulent, exotic, but not sweet or cloying, the name is perfect, because it makes you feel like royalty from a long lost dynasty. Great stuff!

Pierre Guillaume - Morning in Tipasa
A refreshing take on a piney amber. There’s a lovely fresh burst of lemongrass in the opening that helps make it a lighter more cheery version of this type of scent, which I love. Of course once it burns out, it’s mostly that lovely church interior smell. But there’s a mint note that helps it keep that fresher aspect to the genre. Another great one from PG in my book.

Static - Into the Wild
I’ve been on a Proraso Green kick lately, and therefore into old school a little bit funky greens. This wouldn’t have been on my radar, except for the fact that it’s created by Darren Alan, so I took a chance on it my last trip to the States. Darren is one the the top Indy perfumers in the US, especially for classic style fragrances.

Anyway this is a sort of darkish green but manages to still feel pretty fresh, and of course funky. It’s kind of a great balancing act as it’s definitely inspired by the pine powerhouses of the 70’s and 80’s but still manages to not feel like I need to invest in shag carpeting to complete the look.
