The TSC Movie Thread

War of the Worlds (1953 version). I’d have to give it a mixed review. The special effects were quite good for the time (I think the film won an Oscar for the effects.) But the story was weaker. We are never given a reason why the Martians want to attack. & the ending is anit-climactic.

One of my youngest’s b-day wishes was to have everyone go see Iron Lung. It’s based on some indie niche video game and made by a popular YouTuber.

The kids enjoyed it somehow but let me save you two hours of life. Don’t bother. I must be getting old 😂

Looking forward to this movie. Love the whole Backrooms / Liminal Spaces / Uncanny Valley aesthetic.

Binged through Death By Lighting, a special miniseries, essentially a long movie, on Netflix about the brief presidency of James Garfield. It was pretty good!

Looking forward to a pre-screening on Monday of Project Hail Mary. As posted over on the book thread, it’s probably my favorite book and according to most reviewers it’s one of the best movie to book adaptations ever so it’ll be nice to see it before everybody else.

Will report back

@NurseDave - Ratatouille Review

A very fun movie with of course FOOD, a great cast, and good graphics. The beginning of the movie actually feels like more of a Disney Ride, than a movie, but finally settles in to a good plot. Felt they could have done more as the ending seemed rushed but fun nonetheless.

it does however make one want to make the dish that the movie in named for

Patton Oswald does a great job as does the actor that plays the short chef, very reminiscent of Clouseau.
