Owner Announcement The Shaving Cadre 2nd Anniversary Group Buy

Ok, so I resniffed the soaps this morning after they had a chance to reach temperature equilibrium. And now I know what the barbershop scent is. It smells exactly like GTB.......

....... and now I hate it. Ugh! I was really looking forward to this soap and finally getting to try the elixir.

I know there’s a lot of love for GTB out there, so I’m really curious if you all agree that they are scent twins.

What is the skinny on CBL Steel Grey Fougere? Did I miss the discription?
First, both the Steel Grey Fougere & Green Valley Links are exclusive TSC scent releases, like them or not they aren’t scents planned for release in the CBL Soap line up. Both are straight up off the shelf designer scent knock off’s so it’s not difficult to repeat them (nor unlikely for them to show up in another artisan soap line in the future).

STEEL GREY FOUGERE- a.k.a TOM FORD FOUGERE PLATINE wanna be- an herbal woody blend. This modern scent opens with fresh, green notes of bergamot, clary sage, basil, and lavender. The middle notes are classic, with olibanum, honey, and aromatic artemisia.(Why steel grey fougere?- because it’s not exactly ‘fresh’ or ‘green’ or ‘bright’ like you might normally describe a fougere...it’s ‘grey’, steel grey.)

GREEN VALLEY LINKS- a.k.a CREED GREEN VALLEY wanna be- A discontinued Creed scent that was reportedly inspired by Oliver Creed’s love of golf, nature and the outdoors. Green Valley was created to celebrate the pleasure and relaxation of the game and the beauty of playing it in concert with nature. With top notes of mandarin and bergamot (maybe lemon or other citrus too), middle notes of ginger, black currents, mint and vanilla, base notes of vetiver, sandalwood and musk. (This is a nice one, not as I’m your face as Irish tweed but more Complex/rounded than original vetiver, with vetiver being only a supporting note)

I've never tried GTB but if this is what it smells like then i can see why many like it. You should try the PSE. Scent from that seemed much weaker to me.

A. I cannot believe YOU have never tried GTB.
B. If the PSE smells even remotely like the soap, I can’t use it.

I have only ever actually tried 2 soaps from CFG. Cryogen from when i was in search of the most face freezing shave i could find, and Summer Storm from the 2019 CFG 3017 challenge.

At least open it and sniff. after the shave this morning i really couldn't catch any scent from the PSE. and that was after my osage mix had been applied so i shouldn't have been nose blind to the scent.
