The Dreaded 2019 TSC "S Word" Thread

For that it's worth, the fact that "S word" threads are forbidden on another forum is why I decided against joining. It seemed really heavy-handed, especially given the fact that the head mod and admin there is a vendor.

Really???? I am glad that I am not on that forum.

EDIT: Just Googled this. Wow, that is horrid. I am glad that we have the moderation team that we do on TSC.

I've consulted with the voices in my head and they agree I should continue purchasing. But it's nice to know there's a place for that. LOL

As a Darth Lord, I recommend people to go out and buy whatever they want. Especially those that commit to not buying anything

I have stocked up on AV 5-in-1 ASB and Thayers WH. I also have a backup bottle of Nivea ASB and Wally-Mart WH.

I am reconsidering my exceptions, however. I need to figure those out before the end of the month.

Me too.......already feeling nervous.....

I am looking forward to this. It will give me a chance to get the most out of the gear that I already have without the need to try out all the new stuff coming in.

I need to order the .84 base plate for the RR Game Changer and maybe another plate or two for the Karve before the restraint starts.

Ha, I love the rush to spend before you can\'t .. I just did the same thing yesterday.
\nJust thinking of the couple of things that I have been wanting to get and deciding if I should get them before the restraint starts, or wait until it is done.\n\nThere always is a \"restock phase\" before the start of a restraint.

Doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of a restraint if you go on a binge to get all the stuff you won't be able to get while on it?

It is not the purchases that I have been considering for a while that will kill me, it is the things that I see other people getting (like Oz Shaving soaps, to use a recent example of me caving in) that I also decide I want. I have the .68 GC and would like to have the .84 base plate. I have a Karve now (thank you again @Dave in KY!) that I want to get a couple of milder plates for. It the unplanned (mostly soap and aftershave in my case) purchases that are my real danger.

But, yes, getting a couple of wish list items before restraint makes success more likely, which will end up saving me money.

He gets it ???

One of the ways that a restraint will save me money, even if a get a wish list item or two beforehand, is that I will have to avoid perusing eBay, WCS, Italian Barber, etc. to avoid temptation. That alone will save me money, because once you are on the site it is way to easy to hit the "add to cart" and "checkout" buttons.
