Names of “patent” chemicals on old packaging is one of my favorite things about these products.

“Contains Lanotrate” from this cream
Or the
“Contains Humectin” from the older AV products.

14 I has sought to pivot from synthetic brunch to natural and see how a super loaded badger brush behaves. Then things wet a but awry.i applied water to bloom the soap and started soaking my SV Cadre brush, stepped away to answer the phone, and forgot about all the soakin’ going on.
Unpaused, I put the bloom water in my lathering bowl, squeezed out the brush and set about building a superload. As I was agitating, everything looked pretty ok, but it didn’t look entirely right. I added a bit of water, but it still didn’t get that “sheen” of a stable lather. When I stopped agitating, large bubbles reformed as the bowl of near lather broke down. I know for sure I had plenty of product, but the water balance was off . I went ahead and shaved because…Williams. Plenty slick just not pretty. At ~20 shaves the Gillette Platinum is easily in stride with this kind of shave. I’m now wondering just how far I can push this blade. If a blade crosses a certain threshold is it good for much longer duration?

The residual slick after shaving is as If I had face lathered. Kind of difficult to rinse. But, when I apply Alum, the slick goes away and rinses cleanly. I’m sure there’s chemistry to explain this

Shave 18. Back home with Williams, and as I expected, a little bit easier lather than my travel shaves.

Here's an idea......tomorrow when you head into shave....pretend you've never used any of these items before. And have joy in your heart.
